About

Functionaity: Shows hebrew date for today in the glances In full view it shows date, holidays, and general moon phase (not exact Molad) Up / Down buttons or tap on left / right pointers moves date by one day Touch devices: swipe left / right moves by 29 days Menu options (from full view use menu gesture for device, usually long press of a button): * Israel / Diaspora holidays. Note - currrently modern Israel holidays (Yom Haatzmaut etc) also show in Diaspora * Transition to new Hebrew date in the evening or at midnight * Candle icon to show evening / morning ----- SOme technical information: This is my second attempt at building a Hebrew calendar for Garmin watches. This time around I have used a more sustainable approach that does not require frequent updates. A few things to note about this version: 1. At this point I do not have specific location settings included * I added settings for Israel / Diaspora. * Depending on complexity I may be able to get watch location for Shabat candle lighting times. 2. At this point sunset is fixed at 6PM. * Settings allow for hebrew date to change at sunset or with civilian date (midnight) * I may be able to change fixed time going forward, but have to consider limitation on memory usage for Glances 3. This will work on watches with API 3.3 and up. Unfortunately I encountered difficulty with Fenix 6 and Enduro watches(low mwemory) so for now they are not supported * Vivoactive 5 and newer * Fenix 6 Pro, and 7 and newer * Epix (gen 2) and newer (including Quatics 6 and up) * Forerunner 255 and newer (including 165) * Venu 2 and newer (square may be added later) * Note: VA4 and the original Venu don't support glances, but should work in full view. I testd on the emulator, so please let me know if it is creating issues on device. 4. Currently hebrew dates and holidays are showing in Hebrew. I plan to add the option of English transliteration 5. Some future plans depend on the comlexity * Potentially add calls to get HebCal Parasha, Shabat time * Selection of types of holidays to show (major, minor, civilian, fasts) 6. Currently I am limiting dates to 2020 - 2037. This is not really intended to go back in time on the watch and after 2037 I'm reaching number value limits. ----- Credits: This implementation is using code based on the HebCal (https://www.hebcal.com) source code (https://github.com/hebcal) to help build some of my functionality. Code has been updated Oct 2024 to adapt for minimal functionality on a watch. The use is licensed under the GPL-2.0 license.

What's new

Using glances and full detail views on modern watches Show current Hebrew date Show Hebrew holidays on date Should handle localization better (send me a note if there is an issue in Israel)
