LapHistory
· v1.8.1
About
If you like this data field, please consider supporting my development effort. (Click on the 'more...' link and scroll down for details.)
LapHistory will display information about your most recent laps, all on one screen! Depending on the size/resolution of the screen, that's usually between 5 and 8 laps.
LapHistory allows you to have separate "column profiles" for Running vs Cycling activities. The column values are all configurable via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. The defaults are...
Cycling Mode: lap number, lap time, average speed (mph or km/hr), average heart rate (bpm)
Running Mode: lap number, lap time, average cadence (spm), average heart rate (bpm)
New with v1.8: You can now specify which laps to display. The current lap is *always* displayed, regardless. For previous laps, you can show all laps, odd-numbered laps, even-numbered laps, odd/even based on whether the current lap is off/even ("match"), or swap between odd & even every few seconds.
Average Cadence (spm / rpm), Average Heart Rate (bpm), Average Pace (min/mile or min/km), Average Power (watts), Average Speed (mph or km/hr), Calories (kcal), Elapsed Distance (miles or km), Elapsed Time (hh:mm:ss), Elapsed Seconds, Lap Number, Total Ascent (feet / meters), Total Elapsed Time.
LapHistory supports square and round devices. For square devices, the layout has as much space as possible between the columns (to improve readability). For round devices, there is a fixed amount of space between columns, and the extra space goes to the edge (to fit more information on the narrower parts of the screen.)
Historically, the features have been purposely limited to what will fit in the 16KB limit for most devices (Fenix 3, Forerunner, VivoActive, etc). v1.8.0 is the final version with new features for 16KB devices. Future enhancements will likely require a device that has a minimum of 32KB memory for data fields.
*** NOTES FOR EPIX Gen1 DEVICES ***
The Epix Gen1 is not able to provide the activity type, so it must be inferred from the data. It does this by monitoring the cadence during the first 50m-100m. If it detects a cadence over 140 spm (configurable), it switches to "running" mode, otherwise it stays in "cycling" mode. Epix users can also specify which mode (running/cycling) to assume during the activity detection period.
The Epix Gen1 also does not receive notifications when new laps are started, so it has settings to specify the distance at which to start a new lap.
