About

This is a data field that calculates your real time Shenandoah's Hiking Difficulty as defined on National Park Service site: https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/how-to-determine-hiking-difficulty.htm. The difficulty is also written into Garmin Connect and this is handy when you want to compare two of your hikes, challenge yourself or track your progress. Based on the score, hikes may be categorized as Easiest (0–49), Moderate (50–99), Moderately Strenuous (100–149), Strenuous (150–199), Very Strenuous (200+). TrailsNH.com that inspired this application also defines two more categories: Challenging (250–499) and Bomber (500+); they are challenging even for well-conditioned hikers.
