Detectorist
· v1.0.0
About
Turn your Garmin into a metal-detecting logbook: mark every find with a tap, pin it on the map, and take home the map of your dig.
Ever found a great coin and thought "I need to remember this exact spot"? Detectorist makes sure you never lose it again.
Strap on your watch, hit START, and go swing your coil. Detectorist quietly records your GPS track the whole time — and the moment your detector sings, one button press drops a categorized waypoint right where you're standing:
• Coin
• Iron
• Non-ferrous
• Jewelry
• Trash
• Other
A quick buzz and tone confirm every find, so you can keep your eyes on the ground. On screen you always see your time, distance, live find count, and GPS signal quality — no fumbling with your phone.
When you get home, the whole trip is waiting in Garmin Connect: your track and every find pinned on the map, so you can see not just HOW MANY you found, but exactly WHERE. Work a field methodically, come back to the productive corners, and slowly build a map of your best sites.
── Get a clean list of your finds ──
Want your finds as a proper file (GPX / KML / CSV) — with categories — to open in Google Earth, your mapping app, or a GIS?
1. In Garmin Connect, open the activity → settings → export (this downloads a ZIP).
2. Go to https://parse.detectori.st/ and drop in the ZIP.
3. Download your finds as GPX, KML, or CSV — with category and coordinates.
The parser runs entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device and nothing is stored on any server — it's fast, private, and free.
Features:
• GPS track recording (activity saved to Garmin Connect)
• One-button find marking with category selection
• Find counter plus live time and distance
• GPS signal quality indicator
• Vibration and tone feedback when you mark a find
• Free companion site to export finds as GPX / KML / CSV (with categories), parsed privately in your browser
• Full English and Polish language support
Who it's for:
Metal detectorists who want to know not just HOW MANY, but WHERE they found things — and build a map of their sites.
Grab your detector, start a session, and let your watch remember every spot for you. Happy hunting!
