Breathe: Breathing Exercises
· v13
About
Guided breathing exercises on your wrist — 11 patterns, an animated circle, and a vibration cue for every phase so you can practise breathwork with your eyes closed.
Breathe turns a few quiet minutes into real calm, focus or sleep. Pick a pattern, press start, and follow the circle as it grows, holds and shrinks. Each phase has its own buzz — one pulse to inhale, two to hold, one long pulse to exhale — so you can close your eyes and just breathe.
No phone, no account, no internet. One-time purchase: no subscription, no ads.
ELEVEN BREATHING PATTERNS
- Box Breathing 4-4-4-4 — inhale, hold, exhale, hold. The tactical breathing used by Navy SEALs for focus under pressure.
- 4-7-8 — Dr Weil's relaxing breath. Inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8 to fall asleep faster and take the edge off anxiety.
- Deep Calm 6-6 — slow, deep breathing at 5 breaths a minute for everyday relaxation.
- Coherent 5-5 — coherent, resonant breathing at 6 breaths a minute, the rate used in heart-rate variability (HRV) research.
- Relax 4-6 — extended exhale with no breath holds; unwind before bed or after a hard day.
- Triangle 4-4-4 — inhale, hold, exhale: a gentler, beginner-friendly take on box breathing.
- Cyclic Sigh — the physiological sigh (Stanford / Huberman): double inhale, long exhale. The fastest stress reset.
- Energize 4-2 — an inhale-led pick-me-up for mornings and pre-workout.
- Pursed Lip 2-4 — in through the nose, out slowly through pursed lips, to catch your breath after exertion.
- Pregnancy 3-6 — the soft, slow breathing taught in pregnancy and birth classes: gentle inhale, long exhale, no breath holds.
- Custom — set your own inhale, hold, exhale and hold, from 1 to 15 seconds each.
MAKE IT YOURS
- Session length for every pattern, from 1 to 60 minutes.
- Vibration: off, gentle or strong. Every phase feels different, and the end of a session has its own long double buzz.
- Reminders: how often (daily up to every 7 days), how many times a day (1 to 4), and the hours — say 07:00 and 20:00. Your watch prompts you, no phone needed.
- Save to Garmin Connect: sessions record as a breathwork activity with live heart rate on screen and your average at the end. One toggle turns it off.
- A daily streak and your minutes this week, right on the start screen.
- A built-in pattern guide explains what every breathing exercise is for and when to use it.
- Calming dark display, cycle counter, and your last pattern remembered.
CONTROLS
Press Start or tap to begin a session, and again to pause or resume. Back ends it early.
Everything else is in Settings, opened from the start screen: press MENU, or touch and hold the screen if your watch has no MENU button. Session length lives there (one per pattern), with vibration strength, reminders, your custom pattern and the pattern guide.
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 13
- Sessions now save to Garmin Connect as a Breathwork activity. They showed as Meditation before.
- Name your activity: set it in Settings on the watch, or in the app's settings on your phone. Leave it blank to keep "Breathe".
