About
The dial is a membrane. The hour presses through from behind and swells with the minutes.
NEW FLESH tells time the way tissue tells a story.
The dial is a pale membrane, finely dithered, crossed by a branching vein network that ripples with your live heart rate. From behind it, the hour presses through: a dark swelling at the hour's position on the dial that grows through the minutes until, just before the top of the hour, it sits taut and vein-wrapped. Then it subsides, and a new one begins at the next hour position.
The membrane itself is your body's ledger. While Body Battery holds, the tissue stays warm and pink and the label at the base reads SPECIMEN VIABLE. As your reserves drain, the membrane pales toward grey and the label changes its mind. A small black specimen tag at the top carries the time in plain figures for the moments when you want a watch rather than an organism.
Membrane tone is selectable, including a dark variant for night use, and the labels can be switched off entirely once you have learned to read the swelling.
On always on displays the membrane vanishes and only an outline of the swelling and the time tag remain, gently shifting position to protect the panel.
Settings are available directly on the watch: press and hold the watch face, choose Customize, and open the face's own menu. The same options are also in the Garmin Connect phone app under Connect IQ Apps, Watch Faces.
