Station 8 Race - hybrid racing on your Watch
· vv1.0
About
UNOFFICIAL APP - free, made for athletes, not affiliated with HYROX. See the full notice at the end.
Eight kilometres, eight stations, always the same order. Your watch already knows where you are in that. It should act like it.
IT NAMES WHAT COMES NEXT
After run 3 comes the sled pull, without exception, and the screen says so before you get there. Eight pips across the top give the denominator without a word.
TWO LIVE TIMERS AND FOUR TOTALS
The segment you are in, large and in white. The one before it, underneath. Then run total, station total, roxzone total and total time. The roxzone is MEASURED, not deduced: it is the first number athletes look at after a race, and almost nobody puts it on the wrist.
WHAT LANDS IN GARMIN CONNECT
Twenty-four laps, labelled run, roxzone or station - sixteen with roxzone timing off. Every kilometre and every station with its own time, heart rate and calories. This is the one thing the whole category gets wrong: saved as indoor running, stations showing up as pauses. It is the reason this app exists.
TWO BUTTONS (START/STOP AND LAP/BACK)
START begins. LAP closes the segment and opens the next, following the sequence on its own. STOP opens a menu - resume, save, discard - so nothing is lost by accident. Hold BACK to undo: a wrist brushing a button mid sled pull should not cost a station.
SETTINGS - SET THEM FROM THE PHONE, BEFORE THE START
Garmin Connect, Devices, Connect IQ, Station 8. Read when the race starts. In English in every listing, so nothing is lost in translation.
TIME THE ROXZONE - on by default
ON: three presses per lap - end of run, end of transition, end of station. 24 in all. You get a real, MEASURED roxzone time, live and totalled on the finish screen. Almost nobody puts that number on your wrist.
OFF: two presses per lap, 16 in all. The transition stays inside the run, and no roxzone figure is shown anywhere - a number you did not measure should not be printed. Take this if a third press mid-race is one too many.
DOUBLES, and I TAKE STATION 1
Off for a solo race. On, you both run the eight kilometres and take turns on the stations: say once whether station 1 is yours, the app deduces the other seven. Your partner's stations count as recovery, apart, so your totals stay yours.
LAYOUT A, B or C
A: current segment large, previous one under it. B: both timers equal. C: current segment large plus your run and station split.
VIBRATE: one buzz on LAP, two buzzes to undo.
THE EIGHT STATIONS, IN ORDER
SkiErg 1000 m, sled push 50 m, sled pull 50 m, burpee broad jumps 80 m, row 1000 m, farmers carry 200 m, sandbag lunges 100 m, wall balls 100 reps - with a kilometre of running before each one.
TRAINING BETWEEN RACES? TAKE THE OTHER ONE TOO
Station 8 Training is the free companion for box sessions, DEKA, other hybrid races and relay legs, which belong there and not here. Same engine, free sections instead of a fixed script. You train far more often than you race.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It does not count your reps: Garmin does not expose that to third-party apps. It does not read the machines. It does not know your division weights unless you look them up.
LANGUAGES
English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese. Station names stay in race language.
PRIVACY
No account, no network call, nothing to unlock, no trial, no paid upgrade. Nothing is collected, stored or sent.
