About

RefTime is the app for football officials to manage the game clock, play clock, timeouts, time logging, quarter tracking, and activity tracking all in one place. These features can be customized to individual preferences, allowing you to focus fully on the game. Light and dark modes available. TO EXIT THE APP PRESS THE BACK BUTTON 5 TIMES IN A ROW. GAME CLOCK The game clock is the large timer in the center of the screen. Use the start/stop button to control the game clock. When stopped, use the up/down buttons to adjust the time. For fast time adjustment: to increase time quickly, press the up button 3 times and hold on the third press; to decrease time quickly, press the down button 2 times and hold on the second press. If "Game Clock Auto Reset" is enabled in settings, the clock will reset to start time when it reaches 0. If disabled, the clock stops at 0 and you can manually add time or reset through settings. Configure the start time (minutes and seconds) and alerts at 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, and end of clock. Alert options for each interval: 5 second alert, 3 second alert, end only, or off. Long press the up button to access the settings menu. PLAY CLOCK The play clock appears at the bottom when active. Control it with the back button: one press sets 40 seconds and starts automatically, two quick presses sets 25 seconds, three quick presses clears the clock, five quick presses exits the app. This sequence resets if you wait at least one second between presses. Configure alerts at 25 seconds, 10 seconds, 5 seconds, and end of clock with options: 5 second alert, 3 second alert, end only, or off. Settings also allow automatic start/stop coordination with the game clock. QUARTER TRACKING The app tracks game quarters automatically and displays the current quarter when activity data is shown. Quarters automatically advance when the game clock cycles from zero back to the preset time (if auto-reset is enabled). You can also manually adjust the current quarter through the main menu. Quarter information is included in timer log entries to help track timing events by game period. LOGGING Manually log important timing events by holding the back button for 2 seconds to add a timestamp entry that includes the current quarter. The log counter (visible when activity tracking is enabled) shows total entries recorded. View the complete log through the main menu to see timestamped events with their corresponding quarters. This helps officials maintain records of key timing events for post-game review or reporting. MEDIA/TIMEOUT Access the Media/Timeout clock through the settings menu. When started, the game clock moves to the bottom and a media/timeout clock appears in center with "Media/Timeout" displayed above. Use up/down buttons to select from five different timeout clocks and start/stop to control them. While the timeout clock runs, use up/down buttons to adjust the game clock. The game clock automatically returns to center when the timeout expires, or press back once to exit early. Configure start times for all five clocks plus 35 second and end alerts. DISPLAY SETTINGS Customize the visual appearance with light or dark modes and individual color options for display elements including game clock, play clock, labels, icons, and other UI components. Access these settings through the main menu to optimize visibility for different game conditions. ACTIVITY TRACKING Start activity tracking through the settings menu to begin a Garmin running activity. When "Show Activity Data" is enabled, data fields display around the game clock: distance/steps, activity time, heart rate, current quarter, and log count. Configure update frequency, GPS mapping, distance measurement, or stop the activity through settings. Activities automatically stop when exiting the app.
