About

RefTime is the app for football officials to manage the game clock, play clock, timeouts, injury time, time logging, quarter tracking, and activity tracking in one place, all customizable to your preferences. Light and dark modes available. TO EXIT THE APP PRESS THE BACK BUTTON 5 TIMES IN A ROW. GAME CLOCK The game clock is the large timer in the center of the screen. Use start/stop to control it, and up/down to adjust the time when stopped. For fast adjustment, press up 3 times and hold on the third to add time, or press down 2 times and hold on the second to remove it. Turn on "Edit Running GC" to allow adjustments while the clock runs. With "GC Auto Reset" on, the clock resets to the start time when it reaches 0; with it off, it stops at 0. Set the start time and alerts at 5, 2, and 1 minutes and end of clock, each as a 5 or 3 second countdown, end only, or off. Long press up to open Settings. PLAY CLOCK The play clock appears at the bottom when active. Control it with the back button: one press starts the 1st down play clock (40 seconds by default), two quick presses start the 2nd down play clock (25 seconds by default), three clear it, five exit the app. The sequence resets if you wait at least one second between presses, and a single isolated back press cancels a running play clock. Both start times are editable in Game & Play Clocks, along with a start alert, alerts at 25, 10, and 5 seconds and end of clock, and auto start/stop with the game clock. QUARTER TRACKING Quarters advance automatically when the game clock cycles from zero back to the preset time (with auto-reset on), and can be set manually from Settings. The quarter is shown with activity data and saved with every log entry. INJURY TIME Start injury time from Settings - Start (or a touch hold) to time a stoppage. The game and play clocks stop, and the stoppage counts up in the center with the running injury total above it and the frozen game clock below it. Press start/stop to end and log it, or back to cancel. Each entry records the quarter, game time, and duration in Injury History. REPORTS All game records live under Settings - Reports. - Time Log: hold the back button 2 seconds to log a timing event with the game time and quarter. Entries can be edited, deleted, or cleared. - Injury History: every logged stoppage plus the total injury time. - Stop History: the last 5 game clock stops, logged automatically. Select one and choose "Set Clock" to put the clock back to that time. - Activity History: the last 5 activities with date, times, duration, distance, and steps. If log entries are still saved at launch, Reports opens automatically so you do not start a new game on old data. TIMEOUTS Start a timeout from Settings - Start. The game clock moves to the bottom and the timeout clock appears in the center. Use up/down to pick one of five timeout clocks and start/stop to run it; while it runs, up/down adjust the game clock below. The game clock returns to center when the timeout expires, or press back to exit early. Start times for all five clocks plus 35 second and end alerts are configurable. TOUCH ACTIONS On touchscreen watches, touch input is blocked during play to prevent accidental inputs, but you can assign a hold gesture to each of seven screen zones (Log, Steps, Distance, Timer, Quarter, Heart Rate, Center Screen) from nine actions, including Time Log, Start Injury Time, Start/Stop Activity, and Start Timeout. DISPLAY Choose light or dark mode and set individual colors for the game clock, play clock, labels, icons, and more from a list of named color swatches. ACTIVITY TRACKING Start activity tracking from Settings - Start to begin a Garmin running activity. With "Show Activity Data" enabled, fields display around the game clock: distance/steps, activity time, heart rate, quarter, and log count. Update frequency, GPS mapping, and distance units are configurable. Activities stop on exit and are saved to Activity History.

What's new

Version 1.3.1-1.3.5 - 9/10/26 • Bug fixes caused by new features Version 1.3.0 - 8/11/26 • Injury Time Tracking: A new stoppage clock stops the game and play clocks, counts up the current stoppage while showing the running game total, and logs each stoppage (quarter, game time, duration) to an editable Injury History. • Stop History: The last 5 game clock stops are now logged automatically. Select any entry and choose "Set Clock" to put the game clock back to that time. • Time Log Editing: Time Log entries can now be edited (quarter, minutes, and seconds) or deleted individually, and are listed most recent first. • Activity History: The single "Last Activity" record is now a rolling 5-game history with date, start/end times, duration, distance, and steps. • Configurable Play Clock Times: The 1st and 2nd down play clock start values are now editable instead of fixed at 40 and 25 seconds. A single back press now cancels a running play clock without counting toward the multi-press sequence. • Edit While Running: A new "Edit Running GC" setting lets you adjust the game clock with the up/down buttons while it is running. • Configurable Touch Actions: On touchscreen watches, assign a hold gesture to any of seven screen zones (Log, Steps, Distance, Timer, Quarter, Heart Rate, Center Screen) from nine actions, including Time Log, Start Injury Time, Start/Stop Activity, Reset Game Clock, Start Timeout, and rapid time adjustment. • Reorganized Settings: Settings is now grouped into Start (Timeout, Injury, Activity, Reset) and Reports (Time Log, Injury History, Stop History, Activity History) submenus with at-a-glance counts. • Saved Data Reminder: If Time Log or Injury History entries are still saved when the app launches, the Reports menu now opens automatically so you do not start a new game on top of old data. • New Color Picker: The spinning color wheel was replaced with a scrollable list of named color swatches that is much easier to use on the watch. • Fixes & Stability: Fixed the play clock not starting on the first back press after stopping the clock, back button exit issues, and touch-and-hold zones that missed part of their target or worked inconsistently. Also resolved several crash risks and bugs. Version 1.2.0 - 9/3/25 • Massive Device Compatibility Expansion: Expanded the compatible watch list from 13 to 62 devices, including new AMOLED watches and full support for the current Connect IQ SDK. • Weather Data Removed: Removed weather displays that required a phone connection and consumed screen space. These were replaced with new quarter and timer log displays. • Touch Screen Protection: All touch screen interactions are now blocked to prevent accidental inputs during gameplay. All physical button functionality is preserved. • New Alert System: A new vibration alert system is now available for game clock (5-minute, 2-minute, 1-minute, end-of-period) and play clock (25-second, 10-second, 5-second, end alerts). • Fast Timer Adjustments: You can now make rapid time adjustments for the game clock. To increase time quickly, press the up button 3 times and hold on the third press; to decrease time quickly, press the down button 2 times and hold on the second press. • Timer Logging System: Capture and store game times by holding down the back button. This system includes quarter tracking and a dedicated Time Log menu that shows entry counts and full log contents. • New Displays: Dedicated displays now show the current quarter and timer log count while an activity is tracking for better game management. • Play Clock Automation: The play clock can now automatically start after the game clock stops and automatically stop when the game clock starts. This feature is configurable.
