About

Introducing the Curling Timer App! Sweepers and skips can time rocks from the back line to the near hog line or from hog line to hog line. (***NEW***) Added the option to track each player's shot percentage for draws and hits. When you first open the app, it will ask if you want to time from: a) Back Line to Hog b) Hog to Hog or c) Both. Next, It will ask you if you want to track the shots and have the ability to view draw and hit percentages for up to 4 players. This is also your opportunity to view the last saved results - with the "view last" menu option. You can change either of these settings during the game by going to the "Last Five page" (3rd page) and doing a long menu press. The same selection menus will appear to allow you to switch timing modes. The app will still remember all of the "calibration" results from previous use even if you change timing modes. The "both" timing mode (BL+) allows you to "lap" the timing once the rock crosses the near hog line. A second timer will allow you to time the Hog to Hog split. In this mode, calibration is only for the Back Line to Hog -- the hog to hog time is only for reference and is not saved or used for adjusting future rock predictions. After timing the rock, the app will provide a prediction for where the rock will stop. - Hog - Long Guard - Mid Guard - Tight Guard - Top 12 - Top 8 - Top 4 - T-Line - Back 4 - Back 8 - Back 12 - Through After a 12 second delay (6 seconds when using the BL+ mode), a results menu will appear to enter the actual ending location. The app will then adjust future predictions based on the speed of the ice. On the Main Timing Page, select the page up button to change the "shot direction". The app can track three separate ice speeds (calibrations) if the user chooses to select the shot direction (left, center, or right) on the main timing page. Alternatively, the user can just use the center as an overall calibration for the ice speed. Another alternative is to track three different players in order to account for differences in release technique. On the calibration status page (second page), the menu option allows the user to reset the calibration data (CAL Value) or flip the left and right side values. The page provides an indication (red = slow, green = fast) and a "predicted T-line time" for the ice condition. It will show 3.65 until you time a rock on that path. On the main timing page, the last timed rock and actual result (T, B4, etc) will also remain visible until an new rock is timed. If you choose to track and calculate shooting percentages, three menus will follow in order to select the shot thrown (draw or hit), score (0 to 4), and the player (Lead, Second, Third, or Skip). The results can be found on the fourth page. An entry can be manually added (without timing a rock) by doing a long menu press on this screen. The app will save the calibration data if the app is closed or re-started - all other information/results will be deleted . A confirmation screen has been added to prevent accidently exiting the app. There is a Garmin application bug that prevents the correct title from being displayed on some menus. You will likely see "English" as the menu title instead of the desired (and programmed title). You can change the screen background and text color by going to the Calibration Page (one page down from the main timing page). Select Enter, this will take you to the "Results page" that shows how many guards, T8, T4, etc. On this page, do a long menu press to get to the screen background option. If you need to cancel a rock and quickly get back to being ready to time - instead of waiting for the 12 second delay - on the Main Timing Page, do a long menu press. This will bring up the normal result menu to allow you to "delete" and reset the timing page.
