About

SkyChart is a location- and time-accurate sky chart application for round, Garmin Connect IQ 2.4 or later devices. It uses your current GPS position and time to display the night sky, featuring 127 of the brightest named stars, the constellation outlines, the sun, moon with accurate phase, Venus (violet), Mars (red), Jupiter (green), Saturn (yellow), and Uranus (blue), as well bright deep sky objects. Use Up and Down to show labels for constellations (as abbreviations), the planets, and the catalog number of the deep sky objects. Use Menu to toggle on/off night mode (draws in red). TO CHANGE SETTINGS (instructions: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store) to choose these preferences: - Auto refresh every five seconds (start / stop with activity [red] button) - Use the current compass heading when refreshing (North will always be up on the initial load of the app) - Flip East and West as traditional star charts do - Draw the planets - Draw Constellations - Use the last captured GPS location (will update when you get a good GPS fix) Note that the first execution requires a GPS fix that may take a while. To ensure it loads, record a GPS activity at your location. Known issues: - Labels can be unreadable for objects that are close together, depending on the current compass orientation

What's new

Version 1.4.0 reduced the colors so a Fenix 6 has enough memory for app to work - changed planets to symbols from colors to support. Also changed the deep sky objects to be more likely to be visible to a visual observer. **** Version 1.3.1 supports several new devices *** Version 1.3.0 supports several new devices and has one new feature: - Supports a night (red) mode. Select in the settings or use your menu button (press and hold) to toggle. - Added support for almost every round device that runs Garmin Connect IQ 2.4 or later. *** If you encounter a crash (iq logo with exclamation point), a report of the time of day and your coordinates (rounded to the nearest whole degree is fine for privacy) emailed to me via the contact developer link. *** Version 1.2.2 has several improvements: - It should be a bit faster than 1.1.0, but probably is about as fast as it will get on the current generation of devices. - The problem of seeing a partial draw or interrupting the drawing using the keys has been removed. - Now only the 20 brightest deep space objects shown, which significantly improves the readability of their labels. - Several new devices are supported. Version 1.1.0 has been heavily optimized to be faster. It could be up to twice as fast as version 1.0.2. Now supports some additional devices.
