Grade % Extended

Grade % Extended data field shows the Grade % calculated from the Barometric Altimeter (if available on device) and also from the GPS Elevation data. The GPS Elevation data is a valuable alternative especially on a long Audax Brevets when your Barometric Altimeter goes crazy and starts behaving strangely. Unfortunately this happens with my Garmin Edge 530 after heavy rain when the Barometric Altimeter gets wet. From the Grade % Extended Settings menu (available in your Connect IQ Mobile App) you can tweak the Grade % Algorithm Smoothness. With Grade % Extended data field you have a alternative for your Garmin Edge 1040 / Solar / 1030 / 1030 plus Altimeter Gradient Lag issue in the default Grade % data field Algorithm. Grade % Extended data field extends your Garmin Edge bike computer with: 1. Grade % received from the Barometric Altimeter 2. Grade % received from the GPS 3. Tweak the Grade % Algorithm Smoothness. 3. Altitude received from the Barometric Altimeter 4. Altitude received from the GPS 5. The GPS signal quality We recommend Grade % Extended to be used on a larger double box field, this way everything is much easier to read. For example, you could use the data field in a double-sized field as an addition below the navigation map. The data field can also be used on a single small data field. When you use Grade % Extended on a small data field from the Settings (available in your Connect IQ Mobile App) you can configure the app to show only GPS Grade % or only the Altimeter Grade % or both rotating them with configurable time period. The Grade % Extended data field is made from a randonneur for randonneurs and all cyclists around the world. With the Grade Extended data field you have valuable alternative and a backup for long rides after a heavy rain or in a similar problem, for example on a Audax Brevet 200 / 300 / 400 / 600 / 1000 km, the famous Super Randonnee brevets 600 km with 10 000+ m of Elevation or on a LRM Brevet 1200+ km.
