About

Your phone is out of reach, but you're connected to WiFi — how do you message your friends? Send and receive messages directly from your Garmin watch over WiFi — no phone connection needed. wrist-ntfy uses ntfy.sh, a free and open-source push notification service, as a message channel between your watch and any other device. HOW IT WORKS 1. Set your ntfy topic in Garmin Connect app settings 2. Install the ntfy app on your phone and subscribe to the same topic 3. Tap "Sync" on the watch to send and receive messages over WiFi Note: There is no background sync. All sending and receiving happens only when you manually tap "Sync". This is by design to conserve battery. FEATURES • Chat-style bubble UI (sent = blue, received = gray) • 8 quick reply options: OK, On my way, Wait a moment, Call me, Yes, No, Thanks, See you soon • Custom text input via TextPicker • Messages stored locally on the watch (up to 50) • Sent messages prefixed with "wrist-ntfy:" for sender identification • Visual sync status with progress indicator REQUIREMENTS • Watch must be connected to WiFi to sync • Both sides must use the same ntfy topic NTFY.SH FREE TIER • Messages are retained for 12 hours, then auto-deleted • 250 messages per day per IP address • Max 4096 characters per message • No account or API key required BATTERY WARNING • This app uses WiFi to send and receive messages. WiFi consumes significantly more battery than normal watch usage. Avoid syncing too frequently to preserve battery life. TIPS • Use a long, random topic name for privacy (e.g. "wntfy-a8f3b2c1d4e5") • ntfy.sh retains messages for up to 12 hours • Sync only when you need to send or check for new messages Open source: https://github.com/kgs0142/wrist-ntfy
