About
NOTE: This DataField requires reasonably accurate heart rate response data, it is thus recommended you have an accurate OHR that does not "cadence" lock or "spike", or you use a chest strap or other accurate ANT+ heart rate sensor.
NOTE: This DataField is designed to work as a fullscreen field.
"Run Guide" provides guidance and feedback on the quality of your past month and week's training. It uses Heart rate response analysis to automatically determine the type of workout you are performing:
- Speed workout
- Tempo workout
- Long run
- Recovery session
- Unproductive session (it works out you did not concentrate on one particular thing...!)
The display provides "qualitative" values for each workout and stores the past month of data for presentation as follows, live during your workout:
- Current run type: Speed, Tempo, Long, Recovery, Unproductive
- Current run qualitative "load": A relative number indicating the size and quality of your effort.
- Current heart rate (HR)
- The total of the past 7 days "qualitative" "load" (Ld)
- Bar graph showing a summary of the past 7 days, bar length=qualitative load: Speed(S), Tempo(T), Long(L), Recovery(R), Unproductive(U)
- Latest "fitness test" value: relative fitness value
- Graph of the past 4 weeks qualitative load (Up-orange), and Recovery(Down-purple).
An added feature is during any steady 5 minute tempo pace (Zone3: 85-90%MaxHR) during any workout, an automatic "fitness test" value is determined. This is a relative number and your latest value is displayed under the Fit label.
- The past 4 weeks graph will also display a line graph showing the trend of your fitness values.
Detailed Info:
Your MaxHR is determined from your Garmin profile Zone5 top value, which is your configured MaxHR.
Workout type detection:
- Speed : Initial Heart rate response(jump) measured plus degree of effort and duration into Zone4 (over 90%MaxHR) quantified. (Speed detection threshold is when quantified value exceeds 100)
- Tempo : Measured efforts over Zone3 (over 85%MaxHR) of duration greater than 3 mins are totaled and degree of effort and total duration quantified. (Tempo detection threshold is greater than 20mins)
- Long : Duration over 1 hour or 30% of average weekly duration over last 2 weeks, which ever is greater. Total duration then used to quantify.
- Recovery : 90% of workout is Zone1/2 (less than 85%MaxHR)
- Unproductive : Does not meet any of the above... duration then used to quantify.
- Automated Fitness test: If heart rate is kept within Zone3/4(greater than 85%MaxHR) for 5 continuous minutes (not departing from Zone3/4 by more than 10secs per minute), and the elevation difference is less than 10m. Then average pace and average heart rate for the 5 mins is used to approximate a fitness value. (Note: 1-5 mins counting green figure will appear once these parameters are met, you need to get to 5 to achieve a new score, the fit value will then show in green to indicate a new value was calculated.)
What's new
- Fixed issue with failing to Save activity data sometimes
- Updated Fit test criteria
