SOUNDING
· v1.1
About
An echo sounder aimed at the hours ahead. The surface is now, depth is time, and events return as echoes.
SOUNDING points a depth sounder at your near future.
The surface line across the top of the dial is now. Everything below it is the time ahead, with hourly depth rules marked down the left. Events return as solid echoes at their own depth, so sunset sitting a third of the way down means sunset is a third of your chosen range away. Above the surface, two telltales trail your heart rate and step progress, and an instrument plate in the corner carries the time in plain figures, because a sounder always has a numeric readout.
The range is the instrument's main control: look three hours ahead for a dense working day, or twenty four for a whole cycle. Sunrise and sunset are computed on the watch from your configured location, so the echoes do not depend on a phone being nearby.
That honesty is deliberate throughout. When no external data is available the face says so plainly rather than inventing returns.
The always on frame keeps the plate, the surface line and the single nearest echo.
Settings are available directly on the watch through the face's own menu, and also in the Garmin Connect phone app under Connect IQ Apps, Watch Faces.
Free, with no advertising and no data collection.
