What it shows (top to bottom):
Battery % | Clock — slim top bar
HR zones Z1–Z5 — five boxes per zone showing the zone label, time spent in that zone, and percentage of active time. The current zone is highlighted with a white border.
Heart rate — large number on a full zone-coloured background that changes colour with your intensity. Background turns grey when the activity is paused. Also shows a live TRIMP load score in the bottom left of the HR area.
Training type — live label updated every second based on the full session zone distribution.
Distance | Timer — distance in m/km and timer counting only active non-paused seconds.
ZONE TRACKING RULES:
Zones are counted only when the activity timer is running — pausing stops accumulation
HR below the Z1 lower bound (50% max HR by default) is ignored — those seconds don't count toward any zone
Zone boundaries are loaded from the Garmin user profile.
Requires at least 5 minutes of in-zone data before a label appears.
TRIMP load:
The load score is calculated using the TRIMP formula (Training Impulse, Banister 1991): load = time × HRr × e^(1.67 × HRr), where HRr is your heart rate reserve ratio. It grows throughout the activity based on how hard you are working.
**Note that this score and the training type label are independent approximations and are not identical to Garmin's official Training Load or Training Effect values, which use a proprietary Firstbeat algorithm.**
