This is actually just a simple watt data field which is in constant development. The trend in cycling is that the current performance is measured in watts/kg. This allows a relatively accurate evaluation, with which training progress can be measured. Watt measuring systems offer clear advantages compared to a training analysis via the heart rate, but are quite expensive and therefore mainly found in amateur and professional areas. I'm trying to develop a data field for my Garmin Edge 130, which calculates this power and displays it in plausible values. I have checked my wattage readings using the Golden Cheetah open source software and individual online wattage meters. The biggest problem at the moment is that I can't include the wind force (headwind) in my calculations. There are devices on the market that integrate such values using sensors, which the Edge unfortunately does not provide.
Unfortunately, I cannot write the individual values into the Garmin overview because Garmin does not want this. The only way to read the values is in the three generated IQ graphics.
The Watchfield is of course in the development phase. I'm happy about any feedback or for help to make the Watchfield more accurate (as far as possible).
! Please update your FTP value at App Settings to get correct results for IF and TSS !
Intensity Factor:
- Less than 0.75 – recovery
- 0.75 to 0.85 – basic endurance
- 0.85 to 0.95 – speed training such as intervals
- 0.95 to 1.05 – shorter road races or lactate threshold intervals
- 1.05 to 1.15 – short time trial
- More than 1.15 – track pursuit or prologue
Training Stress Score:
- less than 150 (low) - recovery after a ride is likely to be complete the next day.
- 150 to 300 (moderate) - some tiredness the next day but gone by day 2.
- 300 to 450 (high) - some tiredness still after 2 days.
- more than 450 (very high) - likely to be tired after riding for a few days.
For more information on the wattage rating of your tire check this page: https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/mtb-reviews
Search your tire in this page an move with the mouse over RR Extra Low or RR Low then you will find your rolling drag (Watt) value which can be enteres under settings.
