MOCHA-64 Tactical
· v1.1
About
MOCHA-64 Tactical is a dense, high-legibility watch face built around one idea:
your body is the instrument worth reading.
Military framing - brackets, hard rules, mono numerals - pointed at recovery and
training load instead of terrain and weather.
MAIN SCREEN
- 24-hour time in a split hour/minute block
- Weekday and date
- Four readings in the right-hand column
- Steps against your daily goal, with progress bar
- Calories
- Watch battery, in days of charge
YOU CHOOSE THE FOUR
Each of the four column rows takes any of sixteen readings: heart rate, steps,
stairs climbed, Body Battery, stress, resting heart rate, battery percent,
battery days, calories, distance, active minutes, notifications, altitude,
sleep score, the date, or nothing at all.
Out of the box they are Body Battery, heart rate, resting heart rate and
stress. Body Battery and stress stay colour-banded by level, because those are
states worth reading at a glance; resting heart rate is a reference line and
stays plain.
SETTINGS, ON THE WATCH
Hold the menu button on the watch face. All four rows are there, and the
display changes as you choose.
You can also use your phone if you prefer: Garmin Connect app, then your
device, Connect IQ Apps, Watch Faces, MOCHA-64 Tactical, settings.
DESIGN
The palette is derived from Catppuccin Mocha, but not copied from it. A
reflective display renders 64 colours, which means every channel snaps to one
of four levels - import a palette built for a 24-bit screen and it does not
merely dim, it shifts hue. Catppuccin's near-white text lands on cyan; its
alert red lands on pale pink and stops reading as a warning at all.
So MOCHA-64 keeps the structure - the base-to-accent ramp, the semantic roles,
the cool dark ground - and re-derives every value to sit exactly on the colours
the panel can actually render. Status colours are saturated so they read at
glyph size; large filled areas keep the softer tints so they do not shout.
On a bright always-on screen the face switches to a separate low-power view
between glances. Not a dimmed copy - the time alone, on a dark panel, shifting
slightly minute to minute so nothing is held in one place. Every rule, bar and
column is dropped, because none of it is what you want from a wrist you have
not raised.
Battery thresholds are set for a two-week watch, not a phone: 50% is a week of
headroom, so it reads as healthy, not as a warning.
Any metric your device does not report shows as "--" rather than a zero or a
blank, so you always know the difference between "resting" and "no data".
No live seconds, deliberately - minute resolution is both more instrument-like
and kinder to battery.

What's new
Pick what each of the four column readings shows. Sixteen to choose from, set
on the watch by holding the menu button, or from the Garmin Connect app.
Now runs on bright always-on screens, with a separate low-power view that
keeps the panel dark between glances.
Adds Forerunner 970, Forerunner 965 and fenix 8 AMOLED 47mm, and the launcher
icon is drawn at their size rather than scaled up to it.
The listing has been corrected: the face has configurable readings and an
on-watch settings menu, and no longer draws a heart-rate sparkline.
