About

Orienteering is defined as the action of locating or positioning oneself with respect to a place, as well as the action of heading towards a specific place. It is one of the aspects that often makes the difference in competitions, both in crossings and in the swimming section of triathlons, especially in middle and long distance races. This is because swimmers who know how to orientate themselves correctly are less off course, they swim straight towards their goal, their pace is much more constant, and therefore, they swim faster. The Open Water Swim Orienteering data field helps you to swim straight towards your goal. Pre-Swim Preperation Before you start swimming, find the exact position of your swim goal in latitude and longitude coordinates and optionally the positions of all buoys that have to be passed on the swim course. Main Properties: Open Garmin Connect on your mobile phone and input the above positions via latitude and longitude coordinates (in decimal degrees) as application settings in the Open Water Swim Orienteering data field. Start with the position of the first buoy on your course and end with the position of your swim goal. Up to 9 positions can be defined. Other properties: - "Distance threshold" defines the distance in meters away from a buoy in order to successfully pass it or away from the goal in order to reach it. - „Post order“ defines the navigation order from buoy to buoy (0 = from first to last, 1 = shuffle buoys before navigating). - "Number of active posts" defines the number of buoys to be used in the current activity. - "Start at post number" defines the the first buoy (normaly = 1). - "Tone on" enables tones Display A green arrow indicates that you swim straight towards your next buoy or goal. A red arrow indicates that you are too far left or right. The bottom number indicates the distance to the next buoy or goal. The top number indicates the number of buoys that have to be passed. The left and right numbers indicate the elapsed time in minutes (left) and seconds (right) respectively hours (left) and minutes (right). Tones If tones are enabled, a high tone indicates that you are too far right and a low tone indicates that you are too far left. Swim goal If you have reached your swim goal the bottom number indicates the total distance. Donation: If you like this app, please feel free to donate at: paypal.me/udotha
