SailorData - NMEA2000 Boat Data on Your Wrist
· v1.1
About
The ultimate bridge between your non-Garmin marine network and your Garmin smartwatch.
Ever been at the helm and needed a critical wind reading, only to find a crewmate sitting directly in front of the chartplotter? Or perhaps you run a B&G, Raymarine, or other non-Garmin marine network, leaving you unable to use your watch's native boat integration apps?
SailorData is the solution. Built out of personal necessity by a sailor running a B&G plotter and sensor system, this data field bypasses ecosystem restrictions to bring your boat's most important telemetry directly to your wrist.
Key Features
Get instant tactical awareness without taking your eyes off the water or fighting for a view of the primary display. SailorData doesn't just show raw numbers; it visualizes your sailing environment.
Dynamic Visual Bezel: Quickly read True Wind Angle (TWA), Apparent Wind Angle (AWA), and Bearing (BRG) represented intuitively along the outer edge of your watch face.
Tactical Wind Zones: Green and red markers on the bezel instantly highlight the best and worst wind direction zones, helping you optimize your tacking and gybing at a glance.
Total Customization: Use the Garmin Connect IQ app settings to easily configure which data fields are displayed on your screen and select your preferred units of measurement.
Supported Telemetry
Customize your screen with the data that matters most to your current point of sail:
STW - Speed Through Water
TWS - True Wind Speed
AWS -Apparent Wind Speed
TWA - True Wind Angle
AWA - Apparent Wind Angle
BRG - Bearing to waypoint
VMG - Velocity Made Good
VMC - Velocity Made Good to Course
Depth - Current Water Depth
Rudder - Rudder Angle
How It Works: The NMEA2000 to BLE Gateway
To securely transmit real-time data from your boat's network to your watch, SailorData pairs with a dedicated NMEA2000 to BLE gateway. This gateway reads the data from your NMEA2000 netywork and broadcasts it over Bluetooth Low Energy to your watch at a configurable interval.
How to get the hardware:
* The DIY Route: Sourcing the components and building the gateway is a fantastic project for technically minded sailors.
* Pre-Assembled: Prefer a plug-and-play solution? I can build, assemble, and configure the gateway for you for a straightforward fee, getting you out on the water faster.
