Aperture throws out hands and numbers entirely. Instead, two solid rings fill the watch face - a thick, bright ring for the hour, and a slimmer, pale blue ring for the minute. Each ring has one small gap cut out of it, and that gap is the only thing you need to read: its position around the ring tells you the time.
There's no hand to follow, no digit to parse. Your eye is simply drawn to the one dark notch interrupting an otherwise solid ring of light - the same way you'd read a fuel gauge or a pressure dial, not a traditional clock. As the hour and minute change, the gaps sweep smoothly around their rings, always resting exactly where the current time points.
A small hub sits at the dead center of the face, glowing a quiet teal blue under normal conditions. When your battery drops below 15%, it shifts to red - a subtle, always-visible warning that never competes for attention with the time itself.
The background is pure, deep black. Not just for the clean, instrument-panel look, but because true black pixels draw next to no power on your watch's AMOLED display - this face was built to be as gentle on your battery as it is on your eyes.
How to read it:
- The thick white ring shows the hour. Find the gap - its position around the circle marks the hour, from 12 at the top going clockwise.
- The thinner light blue ring shows the minute, using the same rotating-gap logic around its own circle.
- The center dot is your battery status at a glance: teal means you're fine, red means it's time to charge.
No clutter, no competing complications, nothing pointing at anything. Aperture turns telling time into reading an instrument - a glance at where the light breaks is all it takes.
Built natively for round Garmin displays and optimized across the fenix 7 Pro, fenix 7, fenix 8, epix (Gen 2), Venu, MARQ (Gen 2), and Forerunner AMOLED families.
