Jan's Aviator App - has it all! For pilots
· v20221110
About
And Flight recorder. For pilots, made by pilot. Please support development at http://paypal.me/janaviator , if you donate $20 or more, I will send you the source code. This is App and uses constant position and speed tracking, therefore is draining battery faster than Watch Face. If you want battery optimized Watch Face and do not need exact takeoff and landing detection, please install Jan's Aviator Watch. This application is not approved by aviation authorities, so always use certified devices and processes before, during and after the flight.
Features:
- measurement of runway length - when flying over the runway, press top right button at the beginning of runway and then press again at the end of runway
- watch hands can be hidden for a while by pressing bottom left button
- automatic detection of takeoff and landing, touch-and-go flights detected as laps, calculation of flight duration (dim if inactive)
- automatic recording of activity "Flying" (see details below)
- local time, UTC time, week number, day of week, day of month, months
- current weather (is dim if older than 1hr), temperature in C or F, weather location, weather time, weather forecast in 2-3 hrs
- QNH in hPa or inHg, showing descending (in blue) or ascending (in yellow)
- Moon phase, Sunset, Sunrise, time to Sunset, time to Sunrise, time to Dusk, time to Dawn
- True wind direction and strength, if over 8kt then red warning
- Status icons: Phone disconnected, Alarm set, Pending notification and count if 2 or more, No GPS
Automatic recording during flight:
- route
- distance
- ground speed, max speed
- time and duration
- altitude profile
- weather conditions, temperature, wind strenght and wind direction at ground level
- heart rate profile, max and min rate
- respiration rate
What's new
20221110: Compiled for some more models
20221109: 1) When starting for first time, the app takes settings for metric/imperial units from watch settings (distance). It can then be changed in app settings. 2) Measured runway length is displayed in meters for metric setting and in feet for imperial setting.
20221108c: NEW FEATURES! You can now measure length of runway! When flying over the runway, press top right button at the beginning of runway and then press again at the end of runway. The watch will show you for some seconds measured distance calculated from your ground speed. Second feature is that if you need to see numbers beneath the watch hands, you can press bottom left button and the hands will disappear for a while.
20221107: Bug correction - detection of glider speed
20221104: Compiled also for Fenix7 / Tactix7
20221103: There is new setting: "Fly airplane / Fly glider/helicopter". It makes no sense to count laps, circuits or touch-and-go for gliders and helicopters, so if you select this setting the lap detection is deactivated and decceleration under 5m/s is considered as full stop. The setting is permanent over app restarts and there is grey logo "G/H" between hours 4 and 5 to indicate this setting is active.
20220912: I created workaround for the damn Garmin bug which in some phone/watch configurations does not show weather location name. In that case, the watch showed "Loca" instead. Now it shows approx latitude|longitude text in form of "48|13".
20220813: Since carb icing alert was always red, because carb icing can occur up to 38C with humidity over 50%, I changed the alert only to HIGH risk of carb icing, temp under 21C and humidity over 80%
20210829: Fixed crash if only partial forecast was available. When displayed current weather is older than 90 minutes, it is displayed in dark gray color
20210427: THE APP NOW WORKS COMPLETELY IN UTC TIME! Local time is only shown in small rectangle above Moon icon.
20210402: (a) Fixed crash when weather is not available, now weather data is simply not shown. (b) Experimental: touch-and-go flights on circuit are now detected as laps, not as separate landings (full stop is detected if plane deccelerates under 15m/s, circuit LAP landing-takeoff is detected when the speed is between 15m/s and 30m/s and then the plane accelerates over 30m/s).
20201229: Added crosswind components: If you point your watch with 12o'clock towards end of runway in parallel with runway axis, white (or red) arrows in the background show you wind component in runway axis and wind component at 90 degrees to runway axis. If arrows are reaching to the edge of display then wind component is 10 knots or more, if they reach to half of display then component is about 5 knots. Crosswind display is turned on by default and can be turned off in app settings.
20201217: In the weather box, there is now DEW point displayed and if there is danger of carburator icing, the dew point has red background
20201203: The App now remembers inflight and activity recording states even when exiting from it and returning back. The only way to stop activity recording is now to decrease speed under 30 meters/sec.
