App for flat water sprint canoeing. - The stroke rate is displayed as an additional information on the Garmin watch - No additional sensor is needed - The watch is attached to the boat User Manual: - Attach the watch to your boat as displayed in the images. - Start the app. The app will automatically search for GPS and a heart rate sensor. - Press the "start-button" to start the recording of the activity. - The "lap-button" can be used to create laps as usual. - Press the "start-button" again to save, discard or resume the activity. - Make sure that the display of the watch points towards the back of your boat as the algorithm is effected by the orientation of the watch. - If needed you can change the settings (described below) using Garmin Connect: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-connect-iq-app-settings or directy in the app using the menu button. Settings: - Auto Lap (Off, 250m, 500m, 1000m). Automatically creates laps after the specified distance. - Stroke Strenght (Normal, Strong, Professional). Choose a value that decides above which threshold the accelerometer data is considered as paddling. - Watch Position (Upright: display must point towards the back of the boat, Flat: display must point towards the sky). - Choose between min/km or km/h as options for the speed - Option to disable touch in the view where time, stroke rate,... is displayed About Me: I am Max Staats and I am currently doing my Ph.D. in theoretical physics. As a junior I started for Germany in flat water sprint canoeing (K2) and currently I am still training around six times a week on the water. During my Bachelor in physics I started programming and decided to additionaly do a Bachelor in computer science. As my passion is canoeing I developed a Garmin-App that calculates your current stroke rate based on the Accelerometer-Sensor-Data of the device.
