The app requires Bluetooth connection with your phone and Internet access to download the maps and routes. Once a route has been downloaded or sent from the phone to the watch, you do not need to be connected anymore. But the map images will only be shown if you are connected. . The activities recorded by Navi r.485 are uploaded and displayed on your Garmin Connect dashboard in the same way as the ones recorded by the native apps. It has no effect on the data and on how the activities are recorded. This is completely done by the recording module of the device. . Route recommendations may be incomplete and/or inaccurate, and may contain sections of private land and/or sections of terrain that could be challenging or hazardous. Always use your best judgement about the safety of the road and trail conditions and follow traffic and property laws.

We call it the 'beta' version. Basically it has the same functionalities of Maps r.485, but will get the updates earlier.
