About

Lap+ is a single run datafield with a difference — it's made for runners who need all their lap data in one page. If you ever wanted... • 6 customizable fields with any combo of lap/overall info you could imagine • Auto splits separate from your manual laps, with alerts • To review *all* your laps during a workout ...Lap+ has you covered. If you ever wondered why you can't see your Last Lap Max HR, or wished that your VA3 had custom lap alert data, Lap+ is for you. Want to see all your laps in a list, with any metrics you can think of, such as lap/total time, lap/overall pace, or even lap min HR? Lap+ can do that. For any questions, comments, or suggestions, please use the forum thread: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/7663/lap-data-field ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Features ━━━━━━━━ • 6 data fields with any meaningful combo of :      ◦ Overall (current/total), Lap, Last Lap, Split, Last Split      ◦ Average, Minimum, Maximum, or none of the above      ◦ Time, Distance, Pace, Speed, Cadence, Power, Heart Rate, HR %Max, HRR%, Calories, Elevation, Ascent, Descent      (Over 100 combos of metrics....)      For example, if you're interested in heart rate, you can choose from:      Lap/Split: (Average) HR, Min HR, Max HR      Last Lap/Split: ^ same as above      Overall: Current HR, Average HR, Min HR, Max HR • (*) Auto Splits by time or distance — independent from auto and manual laps on your device. I recommend disabling auto laps if you use auto splits • † (*) Alerts for your laps and/or splits with 3 customizable fields • † (*) Lap history viewer with 1-3 customizable columns (plus lap number)      ◦ (*) Automatically opens when paused/moving slowly, or with a hotkey      ◦ Shows your laps or auto splits      ◦ Shows all laps, or just even/odd laps      ◦ (*) Scroll through all your laps using autoscroll or hotkey      ◦ Can hide column titles so you can see more laps      ◦ 3 font sizes so you can choose between readability and seeing more laps (5-7 rows)      (Text will automatically shrink to fit if you have 3 columns and/or big numbers.) (*) = Optional † = Available for all devices except: D2 Bravo (Titanium), Fenix 3 (HR), FR230, 235, 630, 920XT, Vivoactive If you have one of the above watches, or you just don't need the 6 fields, alerts or auto splits, the Lap Viewer is available as a standalone field: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/14e5c6b5-c9e8-44f9-a1ff-28a44148c170 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Q & A ━━━━━ Q: How do I add Lap+ to my running or cycling activity? A: • On your watch, select an activity with a spare data page — e.g. Run • Hold UP for the menu • Select Run Settings, Data Screens • Choose the unused screen • Change Layout to 1 field • Select Field 1, choose Connect IQ Fields, select Lap+ ━━ Q: How do I change Lap+ settings? A: Open Garmin Connect on your phone: • Tap the picture of your watch (near the top of the screen) • Tap Activities & App Management, Data Fields • Select Lap+ • Tap Settings ━━ Q: What are the different screens in Lap+? A: • Main data page with 6 fields • Lap/split alert Looks like a built-in alert. If lap/split alerts are enabled, this is automatically displayed for a few seconds when a lap or split is triggered. To dismiss a Lap+ alert faster, scroll away from Lap+ and scroll back. • Lap Viewer: your full list of laps or splits Normally not displayed unless you set Lap Viewer to "View Laps" or "View Splits". Can be opened in two ways, based on settings:      ◦ (Default) Auto Open when paused or moving slowly.      Will close automatically once you start running again.      ◦ Hotkey      Use a gesture (press/swipe Down, then Up quickly) to open the Lap Viewer. (You do need a 2nd data page to scroll to.) The Hotkey Action controls whether the hotkey will:      - Open/close Lap Viewer      or      - Open, close, and scroll through the list. ━━ More Q & A below, under What's New

What's new

3 additional clones of Lap+ are available here: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/8545c609-c030-4c0c-b3d8-4bc63ebdc901/apps ━━━━━ 2.12 • Fix lap viewer display for Enduro, Descent Mk2, and Darth Vader 2.11 • Fix lap viewer display for Vivoactive 4/4S, Fenix 6 (all), 745, Venu and other watches Full list of changes and more Q & A: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/7663/lap-data-field/51155#51155 ━━━━━━━━━━ Q & A, continued ━━━━━ Q: How do lap/split alerts work? A: Split alerts will beep/vibrate and show a visual alert. Lap alerts show a visual alert only, since your device already beeps/vibes on laps. If you're on a different page, you won't see the alert immediately, but it'll be waiting for you when you scroll back to Lap+ ━━ Q: How do I dismiss a Lap+ alert without waiting? A: Scroll away from Lap+ and scroll back. e.g. Press DOWN, then UP (it doesn't have to be quickly). ━━ Q: How do I open the Lap Viewer? A: 1) Set "Lap Viewer" to View Laps/Splits 2a) Leave "Auto Open when paused or moving slowly" checked or 2b) Set the Lap Viewer Hotkey to "Press DOWN, UP once" For the hotkey to work, you will need a second page to scroll to. On a touch device like VA3, it should be enough to swipe away from Lap+, then swipe back (within 2 seconds). Please let me know if this isn't working for you. ━━ Q: How do I scroll through my laps in the Lap Viewer? A: In the app settings, select Lap Viewer — Auto Scroll. Or enable the Hotkey and set the Hotkey Action to "Open/Close Viewer, Scroll Laps". I recommend setting the Hotkey to "Press DOWN, UP once" (not twice). It's easier to do, but other things can trigger it, like quickly dismissing a built-in alert (other than laps) or quickly pressing Back while paused. If you want to avoid accidental "presses", use "Press DOWN, UP (twice)" • Double-clicking Back while paused: The Lap+ Hotkey really just hides and shows Lap+ quickly — UP, DOWN works just as well. While your watch is paused, pressing Back will not take a lap, it will switch between the the data pages and the pause menu. So you can double-click Back while paused to open, scroll and close the Lap Viewer. If you have a watch that can disable the Lap Key (e.g. 935/Fenix 5), you can do this while the timer is running, too. (And assign a device hotkey to take laps, such as Hold Back.) ━━ Q: I have lots of laps and I don't want to scroll through all of them just to close the Lap Viewer. A: To close Lap Viewer immediately, press Down, wait 5 seconds, then press Up. (You can look at other pages during that 5 seconds). Or set the Hotkey Action to "Open/Close Viewer", instead of "Open/Close Viewer, Scroll Laps". ━━ Q: What do the prefixes mean in the Lap Viewer column titles? A: • The 1st prefix applies to overall info (e.g. total time), at lap end: T → Total C → Current A → Average (not shown for lap info, since it's implied) Anything without a T, C or A prefix is lap info. • The 2nd prefix applies to lap and overall info: + → Maximum - → Minimum • e.g. Time → Lap time TTime → Total time (overall) Pace → Lap pace (implied to be lap average pace) +Pace → Lap max pace APace → Average pace (overall) CPace → Current pace C+Pace → Max pace (overall) ━━ Q: How do I view Auto Splits after my run? A: Unfortunately, apps can't write a 2nd set of laps to Garmin activity files. I recommend using the excellent, free website https://www.runalyze.com. Runalyze syncs with Garmin Connect and it can chop up your activity into laps by any time or distance you want. ━━━━━━━━━ Lap Viewer inspired by datafields created by Travis Vitek and Mark Sibert.
