Runner Performance
· v1.3.1
About
Runner Performance puts your whole training picture on the watch face.
FITNESS AT A GLANCE
A VO2 max dial arcs across the top of the screen and rates your current
fitness against Garmin's own bands for your age and gender — Poor, Fair,
Good, Excellent or Superior. The coloured marker shows not just which band
you are in, but where you sit inside it, so gradual progress is visible
long before the band itself changes.
YOUR RUNNING NUMBERS
Under the time, three fields track the running that actually matters:
- TODAY — distance covered so far today, in miles or kilometres to match
your watch's unit setting
- PACE — the pace of your most recent run
- WEEKLY — total running distance over the last seven days
SIX SLOTS, YOUR CHOICE
Configure six complications from Garmin Connect: two at the top, three
along the bottom, and a progress arc down the left edge. Pick from heart
rate, steps, calories, altitude, temperature, floors climbed, battery,
distance and active minutes — or switch any slot off for a cleaner face.
The bottom-centre slot and the edge arc draw as progress gauges against
your daily goals.
Solar charge efficiency appears automatically on watches that report it.
PRESS AND HOLD TO OPEN
Every metric on the face is a shortcut. Press and hold a slot and the watch
opens the app or glance behind that number: the heart rate widget from the
heart rate slot, the steps glance from steps, the altimeter from altitude,
and so on. It works on the VO2 max dial, the weekly distance total, the
date, the solar chip and all six configurable slots.
THREE LAYOUT PRESETS
One setting decides how much of the face is drawn, and how large. FULL
shows all eight fields: the two top slots, the TODAY / PACE / WEEKLY row,
the two bottom side slots and the bottom gauge. BALANCED drops to six —
the bottom side slots step aside and everything left moves up a type size.
FOCUS drops to three: the running row steps aside too, the time takes the
next size up, and the bottom gauge grows to fill the space.
Switching presets never rewrites your slot assignments. It only changes
which of them are drawn, so you can move to Focus and back and find every
choice exactly where you left it.
NINE ACCENT COLOURS
Pick the accent from Garmin Connect: lime, cyan, blue, violet, magenta,
red, orange, yellow or white. It carries the minutes, the hour ticks, the
field labels, the units and the edge arc, so the whole face changes tone
while each metric keeps its own colour.
BUILT FOR BOTH DISPLAY TYPES
On MIP watches (fenix 7, fenix 8 Solar, fenix 9 Pro Solar, Enduro 3,
Forerunner 255 / 955) the seconds keep ticking in low-power mode, updated
under a tight clip so the power budget is never in danger. On AMOLED
watches (fenix 8 / 9, epix Pro, Forerunner 265 / 570 / 965 / 970, Venu,
vívoactive, MARQ Gen 2) the always-on display switches to a dim, sparse
render that shifts position between minutes to protect against burn-in,
staying well inside Garmin's pixel-lit limit.
The entire layout is drawn from screen-size fractions rather than fixed
coordinates, so it scales to every supported screen instead of being pinned
to one resolution.
LANGUAGES
English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Spanish and Italian, with
localised dates and fitness band names.
PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS
Two permissions, each for one reason. User Profile reads your VO2 max and
your recent activity history: that is what powers the fitness dial, the pace
field and the weekly distance total. Complication Subscriber is what lets a
press and hold on a slot open the app behind that metric; it is used for
nothing else. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, every value stays on your
watch, and there is no network access of any kind.
