About

This widget provides heat and related weather info that can stress the body, especially when performing physical activity outdoors. This has become increasingly of concern as temperatures have been rising globally due to climate change. NOTE: This app is for information and educational purposes only. Third party weather data sources are used, and no guarantee of accuracy is expressed or implied. Always consult your local, official weather and data sources for the latest and most accurate information, before determining your level of outdoor activity and any added precautions. # Features: * Displays, current temperature, apparent temperature and relative humidity * Display wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) and risk level for heat illnesses such as heat stroke (See the explanation below about WBGT). Displayed risk levels are based on ACSM guidelines. * Displays estimated core body temperature (Not available on Edge devices) * Units for temperatures follow the temperature units setting in your watch's system settings. * Option to give preference to display data from Garmin weather when available. # FULL Version Features: * Displays current UV index and risk level * Displays current air quality index (AQI). (Requires free API key from https://openweathermap.com) * Displays wind chill for temperatures below freezing and exposure risk level. For info on wind chill exposure risk levels, see: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/weather-health/wind-chill-cold-weather/wind-chill-index.html * 2nd screen shows guidance for outdoor activity. * 3rd screen shows expected activity performance impact (eg. running speed) compared to ideal conditions * 4th screen shows dew point & recommended running pace adjustment * Option to specify latitude/longitude location instead of using current GPS position # About WBGT Wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is an international standard metric for measuring the expected level of heat stress on the human body. It takes into account air temperature, humidity, windspeed and solar radiation. (Heat index or humidex, on the other hand only takes into account temperature and humidity) Most athletic organizations use WBGT and a 4 range scale as a basis for prescribing activity/rest intervals and hydration, (or if sports should be permitted at all) during hot weather. It is also used by the military and OSHA. For more information, see: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/09/10/what-is-wbgt/ # Instructions * The widget must be given your GPS location at least once. Start an activity that requires GPS like a walk or run, and when the watch shows "Ready", press the Start button. Then switch to this widget screen for a few seconds. After this, the activity can be stopped and discarded. Repeat this if your location changes significantly. * A Bluetooth connection to your phone must be established and the Garmin Connect app must be running on your phone for this widget to operate. # Payment For the FULL version, use this link to pay US$1.75 via Stripe (no account required; credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay accepted). https://buy.stripe.com/aEU15J9AgeVf4kof3J Alternative payment via Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/trudelta/1.75USD Important instructions: https://ko-fi.com/post/Payments-via-PayPal-Z8Z6AIK78 If you don't get a reply within 8 hours, see here for help: https://ko-fi.com/post/Common-causes-for-not-receiving-your-unlock-code-N4N8BUEGH
