Running Power

About
This app displays your current running power. If you are new to training with running power, try this one first.
For years, elite cyclists have used power data as the most reliable way to measure the actual exercise loads of their rides. Now runners can train with power, too. Developed by Garmin Labs, the Running Power apps let you tap into metrics collected by your compatible Garmin devices to calculate and show your running power in real time — as well as after your run.
Did you know that pace and even heart rate aren’t always the best representation of the actual exercise load during your run? By considering factors such as pace, vertical oscillation, grade and even local wind conditions, the Running Power apps determine the amount of power you’re applying at the ground as you run. When you know how much power you’re expending from minute to minute and mile to mile, you’re better able to pace yourself.
Wind power is computed using weather information from your phone combined with measurements from your watch. But you don’t need to run with your phone since the apps store the last reported conditions.
The best news? If you already own the right Garmin devices, adding power to your run is free. All you need is a compatible Garmin watch and 1 of these 3 accessories:
- HRM-Run™ (https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/530376)
- HRM-Tri™ (https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/136403)
- Running Dynamics Pod (https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/561205)
Visit the Running Dynamics page to learn more (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/runningdynamics/).
To change app settings, go to Garmin Connect™ Mobile, select Garmin Devices, and then select your watch. From there, you can select Connect IQ™ Apps and then Data Fields to find the Running Power apps. Select the app to set up high/low alerts, configure power zones and to disable or re-enable accounting for wind.
