About

Pollen levels (birch, grass, ragweed and more) at your current GPS position, refreshed automatically in the background. AeroPollen Pollen — Long description AeroPollen Pollen shows the current pollen level for your location, right on your data screen — no phone app to open, no manual refresh. HOW IT WORKS - Uses your device's GPS position and the free, no-key-required Open-Meteo Air Quality API, which also carries pollen data. - Tracks 6 pollen types (alder, birch, grass, mugwort, olive, ragweed) and shows the highest concentration among them (not an average) — a single high-allergen type is enough to raise the score. - Refreshes automatically in the background every 15 minutes, with an automatic retry after 5 minutes if a Bluetooth connection hiccup interrupts a request. - Never triggers a network request from the render cycle. READING THE VALUE The field shows the raw concentration (grains/m³) plus a letter grade (A-F): A = 0 B = 1-9 C = 10-29 D = 30-69 E = 70-149 F = 150+ Unlike air quality, there is no single official European scale for pollen concentration — thresholds genuinely vary by species. These bands are a deliberately conservative approximation, chosen low so as not to under-represent highly allergenic species (ragweed, mugwort) that trigger reactions at lower concentrations than others. If no pollen data exists for your area/season, the field shows an explicit "no data" state, distinct from "N/A" (which means the reading itself failed) — never a stale value, never a blank screen. PRIVACY Your current GPS position is sent, over HTTPS, only to the public Open-Meteo API, only to fetch the reading for that position. No API key, no account, no personal data other than position is transmitted. The last reading is cached locally on your device and never sent anywhere else. DEVICES Developed and validated on Edge 530. Also declared compatible (same minimum API level) but not independently verified on: Edge 540, 550, 830, 840, 850, 1030 Plus, 1040, 1050, Edge Explore 2, Edge MTB. A companion field, "AeroPollen Air Quality", shows the European Air Quality Index the same way — install either or both independently. Open source (GPLv3): https://github.com/aboigues/aeropollen
