OS Grid Locations

Navigate to locations entered with coordinates in 10-figure Great Britain Ordnance Survey (OS Grid) format, directly on your watch. With OS Grid Locations you can quickly add locations (without a GPS fix *). The app displays added locations in a convenient list which lets you quickly edit, delete or navigate to them (by seamlessly launching the native activity of your choice, such as hiking). (*) The built-in method for adding locations from some Garmin watches (such as 645/645M) requires you to have a GPS fix, and takes a few more button presses. This app is a Widget so you can access it quickly from the watchface. Note: if your older watch (e.g. FR235, FR630) is not supported by this app, there is an alternate app for you: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/74c6ab54-afed-4726-87d3-411bb4ab91ab ──────────────────────── IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LOCATIONS CREATED BY THIS APP • DON'T EDIT COORDINATES OUTSIDE OF APP      • Due to Connect IQ security measures, the app won't know if you edit coordinates outside of this app. If you "Go To" that location, the device will navigate to the edited coordinates, not the old coordinates shown by the app. • If you change the name or position of a location within the app, any other changes made outside of the app (icon, elevation) will be lost. • It's okay to edit the name, icon and elevation outside of the app. ──────────────────────── Notes: • The app works by transforming OS National Grid references to WGS84 lat/lon coordinates. The coordinate transformation is said to be accurate within 4-5 metres: https://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong-os-gridref.html#accuracy Needless to say, please be aware of the limitations and total lack of warranty for this app. • As a widget, this app will automatically exit after a certain period of inactivity (e.g. 30 seconds). ──────────────────────── App Options: (Use Garmin Connect Mobile app or Garmin Express to configure) • Add Asterisk to Name [No (default) / Beginning / End] Adds an asterisk ("*") to the location name (as seen in Saved Locations and data fields), so you know which locations belong to this app. • Remember Locations Deleted Outside App [Yes / No (default)] Remembers locations that were deleted outside of the app, and restores them if you try to edit or Go To them. Deleted locations appear with an exclamation mark ("!") in the app. ──────────────────────── Infrequently asked questions: Q: Why does my location name get cut off? Q: Why does the app say I entered a duplicate location name when I didn't? A: Names are limited to 14 characters, so anything over that limit is ignored. The internal device limit is 15 and the app reserves 1 character for the asterisk. Q: Why can't I change the name/coordinates of a location in the app without losing other changes (icon, elevation) made outside of it? Unfortunately, this is a Connect IQ limitation, where an existing location cannot be edited -- instead the app has to delete and re-add the location with a new name/position.
