About

Waterlands — Fishing & Hunting Session Tracker Waterlands is the wrist companion to the Waterlands mobile app. Start a session on your watch, log catches or shots with a button press, and sync everything to your phone over Bluetooth when you're back in cell range. No Garmin Connect upload, no cloud account, no extra battery-eating data connection — your session stays on your watch until you tap Sync in the phone app. Built for anglers and bird hunters who want to map their day without pulling out a phone in the rain, the snow, or the middle of a float. Features • One-tap session start with GPS track recording (saved as a standard FIT activity). • Log a catch or shot with a single menu action — each event is stamped with time and location. • Live home screen: time of day, elapsed time, catch/shot count, and a GPS fix indicator. • Pending-sync counter so you always know if there's data still waiting on the watch. • Sessions are stored persistently on the watch — power off, change batteries, swap activities; nothing is lost until you've successfully synced. • Works fully offline. The phone connection is only needed at sync time. Activity types • Float fishing • Wade fishing • Lake fishing • Saltwater fishing • Duck hunting • Upland bird hunting • Float fishing • Wade fishing • Lake fishing • Saltwater fishing • Duck hunting • Upland bird hunting • Whitewater (optional, enabled in Settings) The activity type drives the species/event list in the phone app and changes the on-watch label between "catches" and "shots." How sync works Open the Waterlands phone app and tap Sync. The watch hands over any pending sessions over BLE — typically in a few seconds per session. Once the phone acknowledges receipt, the session is cleared from the watch. If the phone isn't nearby, just try again later; nothing expires. Requirements • The free Waterlands companion app for iOS or Android (required — this watch app does nothing on its own). • Bluetooth pairing between your watch and phone via Garmin Connect Mobile. • Location permission enabled for the watch app. Supported devices fēnix 6, 7, 8, and E series • Forerunner 55, 165, 255, 265, 570, 970 • Enduro 3 • Instinct 2 and 3 (including Solar and AMOLED variants) • Venu 2, 3, 4, X1, Sq 2 • vívoactive 5 and 6 • D2 Mach 2 Pro Privacy Waterlands does not upload your tracks to Garmin Connect, does not contact any third-party server from the watch, and does not require an account on the watch side. All sync is direct watch-to-phone over Bluetooth. Support Found a bug or want a new activity type? File an issue at the Waterlands repo or contact us through the phone app.

What's new

Connect to a session already running on your phone and the watch now picks up right where you are — same elapsed time, same catch count — instead of starting over. New catch-rate readout (fish/hour) that matches the phone app, shown in the Instinct sub-window on Instinct 2/2S/2X and Instinct 3 Solar, or inline on other watches. Works with your current phone app — no update required on that side.
