The Worldtimer Planet Model 5 features the following displays/features:
- Outer dial: UTC
- 2 x date time zones
- Automatic adjustment for daylight saving time
- Planet Earth and Moon
- AOD
- 12h/24h mode
- Date
- Various background images of the universe
- The Moon and Earth rotate around the sky in a 24-hour cycle
Outer dial:
- Outer dial with city names
- UTC circle with 24-hour divisions, which rotates according to UTC time.
This means you can read the current UTC time for the corresponding city at a glance using the city names and the circle.
Time Zones:
With two independent time zone data fields, you can select the desired city in each case.
If you can’t find your location, you can simply select the city whose UTC offset matches your location.
The UTC offset is stored in the app for each city selection.
You also have the option to display additional data such as steps, distance, and more.
Time Change:
The currently selected city always displays the time according to local daylight saving time.
This is determined by the time data retrieved based on the coordinates of the respective cities.
It therefore does not matter which country changes its time and when. The local time is always displayed as it is in the respective city or country.
Planets:
In day mode, the Earth rotates every half hour and displays the position corresponding to 12:00 UTC, i.e., noon.
In night mode, the Earth rotates once per hour and displays midnight according to UTC time.
The Moon displays the current lunar phase.
Both planets complete one rotation across the sky every 24 hours.
AOD:
Since the display sometimes reaches the limit of the allowed pixel brightness, a simple AOD mode can be activated as needed.
12h / 24h Mode:
The time display for your local time and time zones follows your settings in the Garmin Connect app.
However, UTC time is always displayed in 24-hour mode.
Hands:
The analog hands can have different fill colors.
Date:
The date can be displayed in the top field instead of the time zone.
I appreciate bug reports, which can be sent directly to me via the Connect IQ app under “App Support.”
Now I hope you enjoy trying it out.
