Add this datafield to a built-in Garmin activity such as Stair Stepper or Floor Climb. Go to Edit Activity, then Data Screens, then Connect IQ Fields. 2. Start the activity and the datafield scans for nearby FTMS stair steppers. 3. When your machine appears, press Start to pair and begin recording. If more than one machine is nearby, the datafield cycles through detected trainers and shows an estimated range so you can pick the right one. Dynamic Training Profiles Create up to three customizable training profiles. Profiles can automatically adjust supported trainer controls. Support varies by machine. This helps you build structured sessions that match your equipment and preferences. Important compatibility note Stair steppers and stair climbers use different FTMS profiles. This app is for stair steppers with pedals that pump up and down. If your machine has rotating steps like an escalator, you likely need my FTMS Stair Climber app instead. After your workout Your FTMS metrics are written into the FIT file and uploaded to Garmin Connect when you save the activity. Look for the Connect IQ fields in the activity details. Garmin does not allow Connect IQ datafields to overwrite native Garmin stats such as Distance, but you can edit your activity afterward if you want to copy values. Troubleshooting FTMS devices generally allow only one active connection. If Zwift, Kinomap, or another app is already connected, this datafield cannot connect at the same time. Privacy and permissions This datafield does not collect or transmit personal data. It only writes workout metrics into your activity FIT file. Optional permissions are used only to read profile info such as weight and heart rate zones to improve metric calculations.
