Watchkin - Tamagotchi Inspired Virtual Pet
· v1.8.0
About
A pixel-art companion you raise on your Garmin watch. Hatch an egg, care for it through four life stages, and try to keep it alive and happy.
NO TWO WATCHKINS ARE ALIKE
Each generation rolls a fresh genome: the random recipe that decides your pet's species, head shape, body proportions, markings, and color palette. Five archetypes: Chibi, Kitten, Bunny, Slime, and Birb, each with their own silhouettes, accents, and hand-designed marking templates. With hundreds of thousands of possible combinations across the genome, no two Watchkins will be the same.
FOUR LIFE STAGES
Baby, adolescent, adult, senior.. Two ways to lose them: Neglect or natural old age.
A PET THAT SHARES YOUR DAY
Watchkin reads your Garmin sleep tracking and pauses during recorded workouts, so the hours that drive your pet's hunger and happiness are the hours you're awake. Care is the core loop: feed, play, clean, and medicate when your pet gets sick.
FOUR MINI-GAMES
Play with your pet through three skill-based games, each tuned for the wrist:
• Sky Hop — single-tap flap-and-fall dodge through procedural cloud obstacles. The sky tracks your watch's wall-clock time: sun by day, moon by night.
• Heart Rush — Simon-says memory built as DDR-style dance choreography. Four heart-shaped tiles, button-mapped on Forerunner and Fenix, tappable on every touch device.
• Tug War — rapid-press tug-of-war versus your pet. Pull the flag past center before it pulls yours.
• Peek-a-Boo — a 3-cup shell game. Your pet ducks under a cup, the cups shuffle, and you pick where it's hiding. Clear a round to face a faster, busier shuffle; one wrong guess ends the run.
Wins award Happiness and Gotchi Points, the in-game currency.
DAILY QUESTS
Three new quests roll every midnight, drawn from three pools. Fitness quests read from your Garmin step, active-minute, and floors-climbed data. Care quests reward feeding, cleaning, and using premium foods. Mini-game quests set per-game score thresholds. Each pays out on claim, and any quest you finished but forgot to claim auto-claims at the next roll so you never lose credit.
THE SHOP
The shop rotates daily across four categories.
• Foods stock your pantry. Tiered hunger gains, multi-hour fullness buffs that pause hunger decay, and the priciest meals grant poop-skip charges.
• Toys equip as held companions and passively slow your pet's happiness decay (25%, 50%, or 75% slower depending on price tier).
• Accessories layer onto head, face, and neck slots, tracking the pet through every animation and repositioning per life stage.
• Special items: medicines, cure-alls, mood boosters, vitality tonics, a time gear that reverts one stage, passive-buff jewelry, and full-screen backgrounds (Dream Orb, Stardust, Starlight).
The basic Medicine is always pinned in stock so a sick pet always has a path to a cure.
WHAT'S NEXT
V1.0 is the start. Future updates are likely to bring more mini-games, deeper cosmetic layering, expanded shop categories, and new special items. Multiplayer — letting two Watchkins meet on the same network — is on the long-term wish list.
What's new
Watchkin v1.8.0 — Released 2026-07-05
New
A fifth mini-game has arrived! Stack Up: time your taps to build a tower of colorful blocks your pet climbs, with the sky rising from night into deep space the higher you get. Miss and your pet topples off; nail a clean, perfect drop and the block bursts with a glow and grows back a little.
A brand-new species can now hatch: meet the Fox... pointed ears, a black nose, and a bushy white-tipped tail, in one of eight coat colors from classic red to arctic white.
Your pet now closes its eyes and dozes off with a little "Zzz" during your sleep hours and its needs stay paused while it rests.
Achievements have arrived: hit sixteen lifetime milestone: raise a pet into old age, reach new generations, set mini-game high scores, clean and feed your way to the top to earn rewards. Each one grants a prize, including six brand-new cosmetics (a chef hat, headphones, a wizard hat, a propeller cap, a halo, and sunglasses) and a firefly-lit meadow background you can only get by earning them. Find them under a new TROPHIES tile in the menu and tap to claim.
Watchkin v1.7.1 — Released 2026-06-24
Tuning
A pet that just fell sick now gets a short grace period before it's at risk of dying — enough time to notice and give it medicine.
Your pet can't get sick — or pass away from sickness — while you're asleep or in a workout. Those hours are safe; the risk resumes once you're back.
A pet left starving can now fall sick on its own, even with a clean screen — keep it fed. (Less risky than leaving a mess, and you'll get a hunger alert first.)
Your daily fitness quest is now simply to hit your watch's step goal — replacing the rotating mix of step, distance, floors, and active-minute challenges.
New
Watch notifications! Get alerted when your pet is sick or hungry — even while the app is closed. Both can be switched on or off in a new Settings menu, and are on by default.
Fixes
Glance stats now show your pet's up-to-the-moment hunger and happiness instead of lagging behind the app.
The glance now turns the hearts green when your pet is sick — even if it fell ill while the app was closed.
Removed the thought bubble that popped up when your pet was unhappy — its mood now reads from the pet itself.
Other
The Settings menu now has a gear icon.
The Shop now has its own market-stall icon instead of borrowing the food icon.
The Inventory now has its own treasure-chest icon.
The Quests menu now has a golden exclamation-mark icon.
