Meet Purrtime: a little cat that has reviewed your wrist and decided to move in. It tells the time the only way a cat would bother to — its tail swings round for the hours, and it bats a floating toy about for the minutes. Want the exact time spelled out? It is right there in a tidy little tag under the cat's chin, on by default — hide it for the pure analog cat, or add a slim minute hand and a rim track if you like your analog precise. ADOPT, THEN CUSTOMISE Five breeds and four coats — solid, classic tabby, a dapper tuxedo, or full-chaos calico. Pick the size, six eye colours, three ear shapes, three tail styles, and whichever toy it is obsessed with this week: yarn, a mouse, a feather, or a fish. Round pupils or sly slits, a collar with a little name tag — every whisker is drawn fresh on the watch, so no two cats are alike. Give it a name and congratulations, you now have a dependent. IT IS ACTUALLY ALIVE Purrtime is not a nice photo of a cat. It is a cat. Watch a while and you will catch it breathing, twitching an ear, flicking its tail, and stopping to whack its toy. It blinks, throws you the occasional slow "cat kiss", meows at the top of the hour, and — for no reason at all — bleps, tongue out. Want a calm cat or a tiny menace? There is a setting for that. And it clocks you right back. Running low on energy? It goes sleepy-eyed and unbothered. Smash your step goal? It perks up and rains tiny hearts — possibly the only validation a cat will ever give you. Raise your wrist and it deigns to say hello. SECRETLY A REAL WATCH FACE Under all the floof, it genuinely works. Scatter up to six little cat-toy readouts around the dial — steps, heart rate, calories, floors, distance, battery, notifications, or the date. When your phone buzzes, the cat paws the screen — pink toe beans and all — and leaves a paw print with the unread count (it is helping). Plus quiet cues for Do Not Disturb, a wandered-off phone, and a set alarm. Hour markers? Your call — tidy dots, a few numbers, all of them, or a clean dial with none. ON ITS OWN SCHEDULE (AND YOURS) Set when your cat wakes, eats, and naps to match your day — early bird or certified night owl. And when your watch dims to always-on, it does what it does best: curls up and sleeps, a soft outline with the tail and toy still keeping time, drawn to be gentle on your screen and your battery. The cat is unchanged; only the settings speak more languages now.
