About

*WARNING* SET VARIABLE CIAV=1607196502 IN GARMIN CONNECT MOBILE CONFIGURATION The CPScience DATAFIELD implements a mathematical model for cycling performance based on the Critical Power (CP) approach, as shown in: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/281934699_Human_Performance_Modelling_on_Wearable_Devices It also takes into account the reduction of CP with altitude, based on the third order polinomial provided in: "Prediction of Critical Power and W′ in Hypoxia: Application to Work-Balance Modelling", published 23 March 2017 and freely available at: http://journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/fphys.2017.00180/abstract == FEATURES == Based on individual Critical Power at reference altitude (both CONFIGURABLE) and W' (CONFIGURABLE), the CPScience DATAFIELD provides the following information: - POW 3s: average power last 3 seconds in Watts (number and small bar; number is RED if POW 3s is above CP); - POW 30s: circle arc (RED if above CP); - W’ TANK %: percentage of W’ left in the tank; - W’ graph: time evolution of W’ in the last 20 minutes (CONFIGURABLE), with the following color code: * Green: tank .gt. 80%; * Yellow: tank .gt. 60%; * Orange: tank .gt. 40%; * Red: tank .gt. 20%; * Purple: tank .gt. 0%. - TTE: Time To Exhaustion in minutes or seconds; - HR: Current Heart Rate in beats per minute; - SPEED: Current speed in km/h; == SET UP == The datafield is used inside an activity (not as watchface or widget). To insert it on a data page of your activity, go to device settings, choose the activity, select a data page, select 1 field Layout, select the field type ConnectIQ, select CPScience DATAFIELD. At this point, it's assigned to a data page and you will see it after starting the activity. The configuration through GCM or Garmin Express allows you to personalize: - Critical Power (W); - Reference altitude (m) at which CP is estimated; - Initial W' (J); - Tau: values gt (lt) 1.0 speed up (slow down) recovery. In doubt, leave it to 1.0; - Chart range (min). == REQUIREMENTS == The app setting is allowed starting from Connect IQ SDK 1.2.1. Please check if your firmware is up to date and supports this SDK version (or higher). The CPScience is tested on the Fenix 3 and in the simulator for the following devices: - Fenix 3 / Tactix Bravo / Quatix 3; - Fenix 3 HR; - D2 Bravo; - D2 Bravo Titanium; - Edge 1000 / Explore; - Edge 520. It requires reading the ANT+ stream from a power meter that needs to be present on the bike. == VERSION HISTORY == v3.10: 18/08/2017 - Compiled also for Fenix 5.
