A structured workout app that works with Final Surge and optionally Stryd. It supports Final Surge by downloading impending structured workouts to the watch. Structured training from Final Surge is supported on a very wide variety of devices. It supports Stryd and allows structured training with power on a wide variety of devices including many that do not natively support running power. Stryd data will show in Garmin Connect and in Stryd's PowerCenter. It has a selectable smoothing filter allowing you to tailor responsiveness of the displayed variable to the type of workout you are doing. You can select a short smoothing window for short intervals and a long one for temp runs etc... This means when you glance at your watch the displayed value is a more reliable indicator of effort and not a momentary aberration. You will avoid spurious out of zone alarms on long runs because of erratic pace arising from device limitations and poor GPS signal. The music player metaphor for the workout allows you to (via the in workout menu) pause, restart, redo or move back and forth through the workout steps at will. Activity recording is paused then resumed after you have made your menu choice. This is useful as training does not always go to plan! When the structured workout finishes activity recording continues until you to choose to save or discard it so there is no interruption of the activity until you choose to terminate it. It displays two pointers for workout intensity, one the smoothed value, the other the workout step mean value. This really helps to run at a consistent level of intensity during the interval workout step. Towards the end of a workout step, during the next step warning, your compliance (low, on target and high) are shown with a bar chart and percentages. Again, this helps you to be consistent during a step.
