About

Note: The G-Router Android companion app is now in closed testing on Google Play. We are recruiting testers. Requirements: you must use a Garmin device that supports built-in navigation and an Android smartphone. To join, first join our Google Group ( https://groups.google.com/g/g-router-tester ), then opt in from G-Router on Google Play. G-Router works with the G-Router Android companion app to receive Google Maps or GPX route coordinates on your Garmin device and start built-in navigation. How to use: 1. Install Garmin Connect and the G-Router Android app (v0.2.2 or later) on your phone 2. Install this Connect IQ app on your Garmin device 3. Open G-Router on your device and wait for incoming coordinates 4. Share a route from Google Maps or a GPX file and choose the G-Router Android app 5. On Android, confirm route options and preview, then send (auto-send if only one Garmin device) 6. After coordinates are received, pick a navigation activity (cycling, hiking, etc.) and follow turn-by-turn guidance to your destination Features: - Receive route coordinates from Google Maps or GPX over Bluetooth - Manage waypoint lists in the app (priority list for navigation, saved list for later use) - Start Garmin built-in navigation (PersistedContent); only active navigation waypoints are temporarily saved on the device - Multiple stops are handled sequentially (after you finish one activity, navigation to the next stop starts automatically) - Start navigation, move to saved list, or delete waypoints from the list screen - Waypoint names from the Android app are shown in the lists Supported devices (118 models in manifest.xml): - Edge: 1030, 1030 Bontrager, 1030 Plus, 1040, 1050, 530, 540, 550, 830, 840, 850, Explore 2, MTB - Handheld: eTrex Touch, GPSMAP H1 / H1i Plus - Enduro, Enduro 3 - Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro 42mm / 47mm / 51mm - Fenix 5 Plus / 5S Plus / 5X Plus, Fenix 6 / 6 Pro / 6S / 6S Pro / 6X Pro, Fenix 7 / 7 Pro / 7S / 7S Pro / 7X / 7X Pro (including Wi-Fi variants), Fenix 8 43mm / 47mm, Fenix 8 Pro 47mm, Fenix 8 Solar 47mm / 51mm, Fenix E - Forerunner: 70, 165 / 165 Music, 170 / 170 Music, 245 / 245 Music, 255 / 255 Music / 255S / 255S Music, 265 / 265S, 570 42mm / 47mm, 645 Music, 745, 945 / 945 LTE, 955, 965, 970 - Instinct: 2 / 2S / 2X, 3 AMOLED 45mm / 50mm, 3 Solar 45mm, Crossover / Crossover AMOLED, Instinct E 40mm / 45mm - Descent: G1 / G2, Mk2 / Mk2S, Mk3 43mm / 51mm - D2: Air, Air X10, Mach 1, Mach 2, Mach 2 Pro - MARQ: 2, 2 Aviator, Adventurer, Athlete, Aviator, Captain, Commander, Driver, Expedition, Golfer - Legacy Hero: Captain Marvel, First Avenger, Darth Vader, Rey - Venu: Venu, 2 / 2 Plus / 2S, 3 / 3S, 4 41mm / 45mm, D, Sq / Sq Music, Sq 2 / Sq 2 Music, X1 - vivoactive 4 / 4S, 5, 6 Requirements: - G-Router Android app (Google Play) — requires an Android smartphone - Garmin Connect app - A supported Garmin device connected via Bluetooth Supported smartphones: - Android: supported (G-Router Android app required) - iPhone / iOS: not supported (no iPhone app available) Note: Only the coordinates of waypoints and destinations set in Google Maps or GPX are sent to your device. The road route shown in Google Maps (turns and driving path) is not transferred. Your Garmin device calculates its own route to each destination using built-in navigation, so the path may differ from the route shown in Google Maps. Connect IQ does not offer an API to build a single multi-stop course like Google Maps. Each stop is navigated in order, one activity at a time, so behavior differs from an all-waypoints route in one session. Waypoint data is processed on your device and is not sent to the developer's servers.
