Ocrux — Obstacle Course Racing (OCR)
· v4.0
About
Ocrux turns your watch into your obstacle course racing (OCR), HYROX, DEKA and trail copilot.
Start your race from the watch. Pick the brand and the format at your wrist — Spartan, HYROX or DEKA — get set on the line, and press START. No phone needed.
During an obstacle race, record your GPS activity and tally every obstacle — CLEARED or MISSED — without pulling out your phone, even with gloves or in the mud.
During a HYROX or DEKA, the watch knows the exact station order. It shows the station you're on, the station timer and the total timer side by side, moves to the next station with one press, and handles the five rounds of DEKA ULTRA and the DEKA ATLAS time cap. At the finish, a station-by-station summary, then every segment is sent to the Ocrux app for the analysis.
• Log obstacles with a single gesture: a button press (Fenix, Forerunner, Instinct…) or a screen tap (Venu, Vivoactive)
• HYROX and DEKA modes: HYROX Singles and Doubles, DEKA FIT, MILE, STRONG, ULTRA and ATLAS, plus the DEKA team formats — station timer, total timer, rounds, station log and end-of-race summary
• Guided training sessions: send your session from the Ocrux app — personal plan or coach — and your watch calls out every block: target zone, time left, vibration at each transition, and rest timers between strength sets. Blocks flow automatically, and your heart rate changes colour depending on whether you're in, below or above the target zone. When you're done, your activity is already linked to its session and your coach sees your real execution.
• Burpee counter: automatically tallies your penalty burpees from your wrist motion, on a dedicated screen — no phone needed
• Real-time timer, distance and pace
• Heart rate with its beating heart, and the obstacle or station log — on a station race, the Effort screen shows your average heart rate and your last station time
• Climb screen: total ascent (D+), climb rate (VAM), grade, altitude, descent (D−) and time of day — six numbers laid out like a premium Garmin data field. VAM and grade are computed live on your wrist (Garmin doesn't provide them ready-made). Precise on watches with a barometric altimeter (GPS otherwise).
• Time of day always visible during the activity — handy for cut-offs and finishing before dark
• Quick undo if you make a mistake — on a station race, the reopened station keeps its time
• Screens built like native Garmin data fields: big hero numbers, side-by-side fields, thin divider lines, green check and red cross for obstacles, blinking REC dot
• End-of-race summary: obstacles cleared and missed, or stations done and your slowest station
• Activity saved to Garmin Connect, with the full obstacle breakdown or one lap per station
• Optional, with the Ocrux app: race prep, results sync, station-by-station analysis and live spectator tracking
Works on 55 Garmin watches: Fenix (including fēnix 9), Epix, Forerunner, Instinct, Enduro, MARQ, Venu and Vivoactive.
Cloud features, live spectator tracking, session push and the analysis require the Ocrux phone app (account required for those features).
What's new
What's New — General training from the wrist, and a smarter start menu
• New GENERAL entry in the start menu: weights, conditioning, a burpee session — a workout with no obstacles, started from your wrist, no phone needed.
• General training shows three screens, nothing else: timer and distance, Effort (heart rate and pace), and the burpee counter. No obstacle bar, no obstacle log, no climb screen — the buttons you'd use to mark obstacles do nothing here.
• At the finish, the session lands in the Ocrux app as a general workout: duration, heart rate and burpees, like any other watch activity.
• START now always opens the start menu: your prepared race and your pending session come first, each on its own date (nearest on top), then LAST, FREE, GENERAL and the brands — pick a free run without giving up tomorrow's race.
• The last station you validate stops the clock — that's the finish line. BACK reopens it if you pressed too soon.
• Station log you can page through: DOWN for older segments, BACK to come back, with a « 8-14 / 20 » marker.
• The home screen keeps checking for your prepared race and today's session while it's open — no need to close and reopen the app.
• Your watch face now updates on its own: next race and today's session, without opening the app.
• Available on every supported watch, Instinct 2 included.
Obstacle races, HYROX / DEKA modes, guided sessions and the burpee counter work exactly as before.
