Pumpfoilytics: Session Analytics & Metrics
· v2.14
About
Pump Smarter, Foil Longer.
Pumpfoilytics (formerly PumpfoilMate) is the first Garmin Connect IQ app built specifically for pumpfoiling. The Fusion detection algorithm automatically picks up successful and failed starts, pumps, flights, pauses and glides — no need to fiddle with the watch during your session.
Just go pump, and let the watch track every stat that matters.
And so you can read the one metric you actually care about between two pumps (e.g. heart rate), pick your Default Pump Screen in the Setup Wizard — it shows a single value full-size, readable even mid-pump.
The basics
• Auto-detection — The app picks up when you start a run and when you stall, so you ride without fiddling with the watch. One tuned detection, nothing to choose; manual override on the LAP button. A GPS outlier filter keeps phantom runs out.
• Fail tracking — A short attempt (under 8 s or 25 m) is logged as a Fail instead of a successful run, and your session hit rate shows up as a percent. Toggle off if you want fails to count as regular runs.
• Pumps Only — Paddle or walk between runs? The session pauses automatically, so the totals only show your actual foil time.
On the watch
• 6 Pump screens — Multi Display (the default, several values at once on pure black) plus five XL screens that give the whole glass to one number: heart rate, speed, distance, time and pumps. A live HR-zone arc wraps the right bezel: green for zone 3, yellow for 4, red for 5.
• 5 Recovery pages — Last run, session totals, peak speed, longest run, and the time of day.
• 3-page Session Summary — Right after you save, scroll with UP/DOWN through Overview, your hit rate, and your peak numbers.
• Milestones — Engraved medals from 100 m up to marathon distance, celebrated on every pump lap, not just on session totals.
• Clear cues — Rising four-note arpeggio when a run starts, falling when it ends. Vibration pattern strong enough to feel through a wetsuit.
After the session
• Garmin Connect charts — Pump / Glide / Recovery timeline, colour-coded second by second, plus all the numbers: run time, distance, hit rate, longest run, top speed (the steadier 5-second value), pump efficiency (metres per stroke), longest glide.
• Web companion — Scan the QR code on the welcome screen, or right after you save, and sign up at pumpfoilytics.com. Your rides, phases and stats in the browser, free.
• Foilsetup — Name up to six gear setups in Garmin Connect and every session carries the one you rode.
• HR and speed alerts — Buzz and tone when you cross your limit. 130–200 bpm in 5 bpm steps, 9–20 km/h.
• In-app guide — 9 quick pages in Settings explain every button and every screen. Learn the app without leaving your watch.
Compatible with fenix 7, 7X, 7 Pro, 8, epix, epix Pro, Forerunner 255, 265, 570, 965, Instinct 3, Venu 3, Vivoactive 5, Enduro 3, and other Connect IQ 5+ watches (67 devices total). On Instinct the app runs a slimmed build made for the smaller screen.

What's new
2.14
Mega update for Instinct watches: as far as the display and the tight memory allow, the full Pumpfoilytics feature set is now on board — auto lap detection, fail tracking, alerts, setup assistant, glide record, lap carousel and the complete FIT data set.
• More reliable lap detection: a brief GPS dropout, or starting while you are already gliding, no longer keeps the watch from picking up your pumps.
• On Instinct, a lap you start by hand now says so on screen and names the button that ends it — and a stray press can no longer cut a run the watch is tracking.
Earlier versions:
• Getting set up and staying on top of things before and during a pump is more intuitive again. Full focus on pumping instead of fiddling with your watch!
• Plus a new app icon in your watch's activity list.
• Bigger numbers everywhere: values on the pump screens, the lap cards and the summary pages now grow to the largest size that still fits your watch. A glance is enough while you are pumping.
• Dark only: the bright screens are gone. One high-contrast look, built for glare on the water, on every device.
• New pre-start screen: a clear two-line START prompt, the pumpfoiler mark blinking behind it, and the version still readable underneath.
• Calmer GPS wait: the prompt sits lower and the satellite bars fade in and out, so you can see from a distance whether you are ready to launch.
• Pump It screen reworked: the values fill the room they have, and the bottom line alternates between the GPS indicator and the call to pump.
• Summary pages fixed: totals line up, units stay put at four-digit distances, and nothing runs off the edge of a round display any more.
• Your name in the phrases: set a name and the short alerts greet you with it. The text simply scales down to fit.
• Milestones redrawn: all eight engraved medals, now with a 1 km mark and milestones on every pump lap.
• Button hints are identical on every screen and smoothed at the edges. The START hint turns amber while you are paused, so you always know which button puts you back on the water.
• Pause sign fixed: it now shows when you pause from the pump screen too, and the clock keeps blinking underneath.
• Heart rate: the pulse is the same bright red as the heart beside it, and the XL heart beats with your pulse.
• After you save, the session opens on your best pump lap and closes with a tip.
• Fixed a lap boundary that could carry values into the next run.
• Lap cards reworded: every pump lap now names what it shows, so the six numbers on a card read without guessing.
• Vibration and tone cues at the start and end of a run, made to be felt through a wetsuit.
• Fail tracking keeps its own count, so a quick miss never lands in your pump lap stats.
• Recovery pages carry more context between runs, so you can decide when to go again.
Still new since the last update:
• Top speed, clearer: the summary and recovery screens mark top speed with an up-arrow and show the more reliable 5-second value, so a single GPS spike never inflates it.
• Web companion: scan the QR code on the welcome screen, or right after you save, to sign up at pumpfoilytics.com. Your rides, phases and stats in the browser, free.
• XXL screens: one current value fills the whole screen, readable in fractions of a second.
• Combo screen: several important values at a glance when one is not enough.
• Switch while pumping: the down button cycles through the screens without stopping the run.
After every pumpfoil session, open Garmin Connect for pump distance, flight time, hit rate, stroke efficiency and recovery context.
