Party Mode
· v0.0.1
About
PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING
Turn your watch into the smallest light rig at the party.
PartyMode fills the whole screen with a new vivid color on every beat, in time
with whatever is actually playing. Tap START along with the track for a few
beats and the strobe locks to your tempo. Press UP or DOWN to snap to a round
BPM instead. Then hold your wrist up, or stand the watch on the table, and let
it run.
This app is free but a tip is appreciated: https://ko-fi.com/tinofunrun
FOUR ANIMATED EFFECTS
Rays - alternating spokes in the beat color and its complement, turning
steadily.
Tunnel - rings marching outward forever, an infinite zoom.
Ripple - a ring launched from the center on every single beat. The one that
most obviously reads as being in time with the music.
Kaleidoscope - a full spectrum pinwheel over a counter-rotating heart that
swells on the downbeat.
Or leave effects off for a clean, full-screen color strobe.
CONTROLS
START - tap along with the music to set the tempo
UP / DOWN - step the tempo, 60 to 480 BPM
MENU - choose an effect
BACK - exit
On touchscreen devices the same actions are available by tap and swipe.
BUILT FOR A WATCH, NOT A PHONE
Every effect is driven by the clock rather than by a frame counter, so a slower
watch shows the same animation more coarsely instead of running it slower. A
fenix and a Forerunner 55 stay locked to the same track.
Colors are picked as random hues at full saturation, never as random RGB, so
nothing ever comes out muddy or gray - including on memory-in-pixel displays.
The screen stays lit for as long as the app is running, on memory-in-pixel and
AMOLED alike.
Your tempo and your chosen effect are remembered for next time.
No sensors, no permissions, no account, no internet connection. PartyMode
collects nothing and sends nothing.
PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING
PartyMode produces rapidly flashing light and high-contrast color changes. A
small number of people may experience seizures or blackouts when exposed to
flashing light patterns. Do not use this app if you, or anyone who can see the
screen, has a history of epilepsy or photosensitive seizures. Stop immediately
if you feel dizzy, disoriented, or notice any altered vision.
Keeping the display lit and animating uses far more battery than normal watch
use. It is a party app, not an all-day one.
