AeroPollen AIR
· v1.1.1
About
European Air Quality Index (EAQI) at your current GPS position, refreshed automatically in the background — no manual sync needed.
AeroPollen Air Quality — Long description
AeroPollen Air Quality shows the European Air Quality Index (EAQI) for your current location, right on your data screen — no phone app to
open, no manual refresh.
HOW IT WORKS
- Uses your device's GPS position and the free, no-key-required Open-Meteo Air Quality API.
- Refreshes automatically in the background every 15 minutes (the platform's recommended minimum), with an automatic retry after 5 minutes if
a Bluetooth connection hiccup interrupts a request.
- Never triggers a network request from the render cycle — reading the field never slows down your ride.
READING THE VALUE
The field shows the raw EAQI value plus a letter grade (A-F) for an instant read while riding:
A = Good (0-19)
B = Fair (20-39)
C = Moderate (40-59)
D = Poor (60-79)
E = Very Poor (80-99)
F = Extremely Poor (100+)
These are the official EAQI bands defined by the European Environment Agency.
If no reading is available (no GPS fix yet, or a temporary connectivity failure), the field shows an explicit "N/A" state — never a stale
value, never a blank screen.
PRIVACY
Your current GPS position is sent, over HTTPS, only to the public Open-Meteo API, only to fetch the air quality reading for that position. No
API key, no account, no personal data other than position is transmitted. The last reading is cached locally on your device and never sent
anywhere else.
DEVICES
Developed and validated on Edge 530. Also declared compatible (same minimum API level) but not independently verified on: Edge 540, 550, 830,
840, 850, 1030 Plus, 1040, 1050, Edge Explore 2, Edge MTB.
A companion field, "AeroPollen Pollen", shows pollen levels the same way — install either or both independently.
