Moving Average Pace

This data field is a simplified version of Rolling Average Pace (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/28fdec7f-3807-4d24-b85a-4c86b40501f4). It tries to improve the font sizes used but supports fewer options and devices. If you think I could improve things further or I haven’t made this version for your device and you’d like me to, please ask. The data field displays a continuously updated average pace or speed over a user defined distance or time. The distance is interpreted as metres/kilometres or yards/miles depending on the device settings (it can also be set to display the "opposite" units, i.e. metric when set to statute and vice versa). The data field shows pace as minutes and seconds per unit distance (kilometre or mile) or speed (kilometres or miles) per hour according to the device settings and the user's choice. The default is to average pace over the last 100 metres or yards. If you have auto-pause enabled the data field will continue recording when you start moving again, ignoring the pause. If you manually pause your activity the rolling average is zeroed and restarts when you start again. Use the device settings to change the distance and pace/speed units. Use Garmin Express or Connect Mobile to choose settings for the app. When you set the distance to be averaged over, values less than 10 are taken to be kilometres or miles and larger values are seen as metres or yards. Time settings smaller than 1 second are taken to be 1. The data field label shows what you have chosen. Please note that the data field has some limitations. • Until you have covered the set distance or time it averages over the values it has so far. • It can only store a certain number of readings. If there aren't enough to cover the distance or time you have set it will average over those that it does have. For large values it takes fewer readings, so the result could be less accurate at times. It also means the display updates slower. • The distance or time it averages over is not exactly accurate, it depends on the values given to it by the Garmin firmware. This is particularly noticeable if your watch is set to smart recording. Don't forget - this is a data field. You won't see it after downloading until you've added it to your activity in the usual way through device settings.
