About

YAIF2 (Yet Another Interval Field 2) is dedicated to interval training. Notes: - I played around with the FitContributor, which means that I am trying to write the average heart rate to the FIT file during the intervals. By doing this a new graph pops up in garmin connect web. Therefore it is asked for the permission to do this. - YAIF2 is currently in an beta status. Although I have tested it already on my device there may be some bugs in there. Please report them here: https://goo.gl/g4tqZQ - Maintainance of software is time consuming. Therefore the heart rate and cadence coloring works only 5 minutes for tests or you can unlock the features with a pin which you get after spending (see section News below). Here is how YAIF2 works: YAIF2 has in principal two screens: one screen for warm up and rest periods, the other one for high-intensity periods (a rest period is called 'RP', the high-intensity period is called 'HIP' in the following). The screens can (among others) distinguished by it's color scheme: The RP screen comes in blue, the HIP screen comes in orange. The screens toggle according to your settings via Garmin Connect mobile or Garmin Express. The idea behind is, that the runner needs large readable characters in the HIP with reduced workout information whereas in a RP the runner is much slower and can examine the results of the last HIPs written in small characters to put as much information on the watch as possible. Following is an explanation to the different screens: Start screen: The start screen is shown before you have started your workout. It shows some basic instructions how to proceed. Furthermore you can review your interval settings you have done up front in Garmin Connect mobile: It is shown the number of repetions, the distance/time in the HIP (marked with 'H') and the distance/time in the RP (marked with 'R'). Last but not least YAIF2 shows the time you need for the entire workout without warm up and cool down (if your setting in the RP is 'time'). Warm up screen: If you decide to do a warm up before your workout, YAIF2 shows a warm up screen. The screen is based on the RP screen (see below). The period time and period distance are up counter here. HIP screen: After the warm up (or directly after START depending on your settings) the HIP screen is shown. The intention was to show large readable fields in HIP. It shows: average information for this HIP: cadence, heart rate and pace. Furthermore it shows current cadence and heart rate and the average pace of the last 5 seconds. The HIP's time and distance is also shown (either as up or as down counter depending on your settings made up front). Last but not least it shows the interval number you are in and the total number of intended intervals. RP screen: Things are much smaller on the RP screen since the runner is much slower. It shows information about the last 4 HIPs. Depending on the space of the watch the information shown is: HIP's number, averages of the HIPs: pace, heart rate and cadence. Furthermore the first field shows distance and time of the last HIP. Furthermore RP shows RP's time and distance as up or as down counter depending on your settings. If shows also current heart rate and cadence, calories burned, Time of date, total elapsed time and distance. Last but not least the 5 second pace is shown. Cool down screen: The cool down screen shows some basic instruction that you can do a cool down and as soon as you are finished press the STOP button. Getting started: If you want to do an interval workout set your configuration not in the device but up front in Garmin Connect mobile or Garmin Express via the YAIF2 settings. Tip: You can use YAIF2 also for fast non-interval runs by configuring the datafiield as follows: No warm up, 1 repetitions, set the HIP's distance to the distance you want to run. Tip: Deactivate auto-lap and do it manually
