Aurore – Sport Colored Watch Face

Most watch faces let you pick a colour from a menu. This one makes you earn it. THE HOUR IS PAINTED Fourteen bands of colour run across the digits, from rose through orange to yellow. Only the hour is coloured; the date, the fields and the rules stay white and grey, which is what keeps the whole thing readable at arm's length. AND THE DAY DECIDES HOW STRONG At dawn the dial is soft. As you move it comes up, and by the time you reach your step goal it burns. Spend the day sitting and it stays soft all evening. Nothing is announced, nothing beeps: you simply look at your wrist and know. IT NEVER GOES GREY There is a floor under the colour. A grey dial reads like a fault rather than a verdict, and a face that punishes you on a rest day is a face you take off. Soft is not the same as dead. THE BAR TELLS YOU WHY A thin line under the date, filled to the same proportion, in the same colour as the hour. It is there so you understand on the first evening instead of the third week. Switch it off once you no longer need telling. YOUR GOAL, NOT ANOTHER ONE The colour is earned against the step goal your watch already knows, the one you set in the app. You are not asked to enter it twice. Prefer intensity minutes? One setting and the colour follows those instead. THREE FIELDS AT THE BOTTOM Steps, heart rate, distance, calories, battery in percent or in days, floors climbed, intensity minutes, the date, or nothing at all. When your watch has nothing to give, a field shows a dot rather than a zero: a zero reads like a measurement, and a field stuck at zero looks like a fault in the face when it is only the watch being honest. BUILT FOR AN OLED SCREEN The background is true black, so those pixels are switched off rather than merely dark, and the colour costs almost nothing. In always on mode the hour steps down to a smaller size and a single tone, and shifts a few pixels every minute on a forty nine minute cycle so no pixel is lit far more often than its neighbour. NO PERMISSIONS None. The face asks nothing of your watch and nothing of your phone. FOUR GRADIENTS Aurora, rose to yellow. Ocean, cyan to violet. Forest, green to yellow. Ember, red to orange.
