Yet another run field
· vv6.0.6
About
Known problems:
- If you get an IQ screen if you switch to the activity: go back to the watch face and start over again. Wait a second before jumping into the running application
- If anything does not work as expected: please report bugs via contact developer button
Note for Fenix 5, 5X and FR935 user: all YARF functions can be tested for 5 minutes per activity. After 5 minutes a pin is necessary and functions are deactivated.
The Yet Another Fields are a series of datafields which are dedicated to a certain kind of run. E. g. the Yet Another Competition Field (YACF: https://goo.gl/4tLgeb) is designed for competitions and fast runs whereas Yet Another Interval Field 2 (YAIF2: https://goo.gl/qJGFY0) is made specifically for interval training. This datafield - Yet Another Running Field (YARF) - is optimized for slow and medium fast runs.
YARF shows currently 18 different information fields (23 for F5/F5X and FR935). My vision was to show as much information on one screen so that there is no need to toggle through pages. The information which is from my point of view relevant to the running workout is printed in large readable characters. The colors of the labels and some information are configurable so that the runner is not distracted from all the information. It can be configured in garmin express or from your connected mobile phone (called from now on YARF settings).
The outer pace fields' string sizes are larger. The user can select in the YARF settings whether the average or the lap pace as well as the 10 second pace and the 60 second pace show enlarged.
The datafield brings back an alarm setting for cadence which was omitted from Garmin at least for the Forerunner 235. Furthermore it is more flexible than Garmins implementation since the time between two alarms can be configured in the YARF settings.
YARF shows:
1. Average Cadence
2. Current Cadence (which is shown in red letters if the cadence is below 180 or a configurable value. Furthermore YARF indicates low cadence values with vibration and a beep. Both are deactivatable by setting the time between two alarms to 0 in the settings)
3. Elapsed Time
4. Elapsed Distance (shown in miles or in km depending on the system's setting)
5. Average Pace
6. Lap Pace
7. 60 second Pace
8. 10 second Pace (gets red if current pace is 3 seconds in a row slower and green if faster, i. e. the tendency is shown)
9. Calories burned during activity (the label "kC" will vanish if the calories are beyond 999)
10. Time of Date (minutes can be configured in a color of your choice)
11. Current Lap Time
12. Previous Lap Time
13. Battery level (gets orange if level is below 40 and red if the level falls down to 15). Bar view on round watches, digit view on semi round watches: the size of the battery level can be enlarged via the YARF settings.
14. Heart Rate average
15. Heart Rate
16. At a new lap the HR label is replaced with the average HR of the last lap
17. The training effect (which gets green if your current training is a maintaining workout, gets yellow if the workout improves your fitness and gets red if the workout is too much). Try to do a few maintaining and 1-2 improving workouts per week. Read more about it here: http://goo.gl/RvMcdI
18. The heart rate zone the runner is currently into (only via Pin as a bonus for donater and supporter)
Note that the Pace fields show "---" if the pace is slower than 9:59.
For FR935/ Fenix 5/5X (only via Pin as a bonus for donater and supporter - otherwise only 5 minutes usable):
19. Slope as indicator and as number
20. Direction as indicator and as characters
21. Direction to Start as characters
22. Distance to start
23. Time in each HR-Zone as line (optional)
24. Vertical oscillation
What's new
YARF is really at the limits of the processors capabilities but also of the garmin's 16 kByte restrictions. YARF was only possible to work properly by doing a lot code refactoring which was very time consuming. Maybe you want to spend me a beer.
After spending you can unlock the functionality for the zone coloring of current heart rate. Newer devices (e. g. FR935, F5 and F5X) have more power and support also zone coloring for average HR, Lap HR and cadence.

v6.0.6: current cadence bugfix for some watches
v6.0.5: support for FR945LTE, Descent mk2s, Support Neueste Connect IQ
v6.0.4: Descent Mk2 and MARQ Golfer supported
v6.0.3: added an option to show GPS strengh if timer is not active
v6.0.2: supported more watches - 6xPro among others
v6.0.0: major redesign for newer watches
v5.2.5: FR945 is supported better but it's not yet perfect
v5.2.2: vertical oscillation (instead string "Time"). Works for F5, F5X und FR935
v5.2.1: Time in each HR-Zone as line
v5.2: Pace-String can be cut in the YARF settings if pace is greater than 9:59
v5.1: Distance to start is shown
v5.0: Direction to start is shown
v4.0: Direction and slope indicator are only available via pin now. Nevertheless, all functions can be tested for 5 minutes without pin. Possibility to invert colors added.
v3.8: Added orange ring to the direction indicator for better readability, direction is now also shown as characters above the CAD label, slope indicator is now thicker and the maximum of the indicator is 10 % slope, the slope is now also shown in numbers right to the cadence field.
v3.7: Added two new experimental functions for F5 series and FR935: direction and slope indicator
v3.6: Bug fixing
