About

dynamicsPace is a datafield that determines the pace independently from a GPS signal. Furthermore it generates graph data for elevation (in percent) NOTE: For the datafield to work as intended to, the use of a device compatible to RunningDynamics is necessary. For example, this can be the popular HRM Run from Garmin that probably many runners already use. Information about compatible devices can be found here: https://support.garmin.com/de-DE/?faq=2dHRQGwu9G7u5yfFkNDIV7 The features in a nutshell: - Determine the pace "GPS-less" by using the data delivered by a RunningDynamics compatible device (e.g. HRM Run from Garmin) - Hybrid mode: Use both GPS and RunningDynamics based pace when a GPS signal is usable, otherwise use RunningDynamics based pace only. - More data collected to be evaluated via Garmin Connect (e.g. number of steps and distance) - Elevation (graph, in percent) Let's use an FAQ to answer most questions: Q: Why do I need this datafield? Is GPS not exact enough? A: Yes and no. Running under a clear sky, everything should be fine. But in forests or in densely developed areas the quality can decrease rapidly. Furthermore, you cannot use GPS during indoor activities. Q: No GPS. How so? A: RunningDynamics delivers data that can be used for many interesting things. For example to determine pace. Q: What is the Hybridmode? A: The Hybridmode utilizes GPS as well as RunningDynamics. In areas with a strong GPS quality a different algorithm is used to determine the pace than in areas with no or only an average signal. Q: Sometimes the data seems to reflect a pace change with a few (2-5) seconds delay. Why is your datafield so slow? A: "Give it a few seconds! It's going to space!" No, honestly, I can only process the data as fast as it comes in. There might be several reasons why the responsiveness is not instantanous, even device related. I'm still improving my algorithms to reflect pace changes better, if possible. Q: The distance and/or number of steps seem a bit too less... A: It takes a few seconds for RunningDynamics to be ready. The startup screen gives infos about the status. If you don't wait for it, the first steps/meters will probably not be taken into account... Q: I'd like to use this datafield, but I don't run with my HRM Run all the time. Do I have to modify my datafield layout all the time then? A: No. If a RunningDynamics compatible device is available at startup, it will be used. Otherwise, GPS based pace it will be, then.
