About

A general-aviation flight log for student and private pilots: continuous variometer, barometric altimeter, GPS speed, wind estimation, and FIT activity recording. WARNING: The app is intended only as an in-flight aid and should not be used as a primary information source. If the app contains a barometric altimeter, it will not function in a pressurized aircraft and should not be used in a pressurized aircraft. — PILOT RESPONSIBILITY — Flight preparation is and remains the pilot's responsibility. Always check NOTAMs and current flight warnings with the official aviation authorities (DFS, AustroControl, DGAC, ENAV, your local ANSP, …) before every flight. This app does not replace official pre-flight briefings, current aeronautical charts, or pilot judgment. — FEATURES — VARIOMETER & ALTIMETER Continuous vertical speed display in m/s with a configurable IIR low-pass filter. Large, centred barometric altitude. Climb-rate-coloured trail in the secondary view (last ~250 m, track-up). AUTOMATIC QNH QNH is continuously back-calculated from raw atmospheric pressure plus GPS altitude using the inverse ICAO ISA model and smoothed with a slow filter. No manual setter — the value is logged into the FIT file as custom record data for post-flight reference. WIND ESTIMATION Wind direction and strength are auto-derived from GPS speed and heading variation while turning — no extra sensors required. PRIMARY VIEW Top row: clock on the left, GPS heading in the centre, flight time on the right. Large barometric altitude. Ground speed. Wind direction and strength. TRACK VIEW Track-up trail of the recent flight path, coloured by climb rate. Same flight info compactly arranged around the edges. FIT ACTIVITY RECORDING Recording starts automatically when GPS speed indicates take-off. Standard FIT fields plus custom variometer, QNH, and pilot-name records at 1 Hz. Save or discard from the exit menu; auto-save on hard quit (low battery, power-long-press). Sport recorded as FLYING (fallback GENERIC). — USAGE — UP/DOWN cycle through the available views. BACK long-press (≥ 0.8 s) opens the exit dialog; a short BACK is a no-op on the root flight views so accidental glove presses can't kick you out of the screen. Pre-flight tip: set the watch to Notifications → During activity → Off so calls and push messages stay silent during the recording. — SUPPORTED DEVICES — Fenix 8 family — 43 / 47 / 51 mm AMOLED, Pro 47 / 51 mm + MicroLED, Solar 47 / 51 mm, plus tactix 8 and quatix 8 variants. Tested with Fenix 8 51 mm only. — LIMITATIONS — - No continuous audio variometer tone — the variometer is shown numerically and as a colour-coded trail.
