About

For all Star Trek - obsessed nerds, having an LCARS terminal on your wrist is a must, if you passing the final frontier to boldly go where no one has gone before. Engage! Watchface with LCARS-style based on the TV series Star Trek. The watchface shows the dawn phases, the actual crescent moon, moonrise and set, sunrise and set based on the GPS position of your watch (no internet connection required). For these astronomical calculations the procedures of Jean Meeus (Meeus, Jean: Astronomische Algorithmen, 2. Edition, Verlag Johann Ambrosius Barth, Leipzig - Berlin - Heidelberg, 1994) are used. Instead of the moon a wireframe sphere can be displayed (which is used as a seconds hand, when the day of week is displayed). There is one color style for MIP displays and three color styles for AMOLED displays. With a 2-seconds-press on the moon picture (only watches with touch screen) you can diaplay a detailed view of the moon data (azimuth, altitude, rise, set, transit) and dawn phases. The standard view will be displayed again after 30 seconds (settings can be changed to 60 seconds or keep till next press). The lines from body battery to the fitness values indicates a change since the last update cycle. They disappear, if theres no new value within the last minute. Dedicated to my beloved family. Special thanks to Gene Roddenberry & Michael Okuda for the best TV series ever. Description of values: BAT: battery status (percent, hour or both) DAT: date (tt mm yy / mm tt yy / yy mm dd) TME: time (24h or 12h), day of week or seconds SUN: time of next sun event and solar intensity (line goal) HUM: humidity PCP: probability of precipitation WND: wind direction and speed (km/h, mph or kts) PRS: air pressure (hpa or inch mercury) TMP: temperature (°C or °F) Body Shape: body battery MSG: counter for messages BMP: heart beats per minute CAL: calories STP: steps DST: distance (meters, yards, feet or miles) UP: climbed floors DN: descended floors The display formats can be changes via Garmin Express or Connect IQ. Note: If there is a tag "NO GPS" over the sphere, then your watch doesn't provide a last know GPS position. To solve that, open an app, that provides GPS data (e.g. map, outdoor activity, etc). Wait until that app has received a propper GPS signal. Close the app and go back to the LCARS watch face. if you are interested in more moon data: check my app "Moon App & Simulator" https://apps.garmin.com/apps/fb178fa4-b5df-4b29-ac2f-cae16b991766

What's new

v3.8.44 - fix for calculation of next upcomming sun event (rise or set): the astronomical calculations are now the primary source. If no GPS position is available, the watch tries to evaluates sunrise and sunset via the weather-API - on watches without pressure sensor the air pressure is taken out of weather data - if weather data are not available, "NO WX" is display in the tile of weather symbols - the goal-views in LCARS style were removed to get more memory for the astronomical calculations - change to SDK 9.2.0 v3.7.42 - added support for D2™ Mach 2 v3.7.41 - added date format "yy mm dd" (ISO 8601) - added support for fēnix® 8 47mm / 51mm / tactix 8 47mm / 51mm / quatix 8 47mm 51mm - added support for fēnix® 8 Pro 47mm / 51mm / MicroLED - added support for Venu® 4 41mm - added support for Venu® 4 45mm - change to SDK 8.3.0 v3.6.39 - several changes to save memory and battery power: - new settings for Connext IQ and Garmin Express: astronomical calculations can be disabled, new calculations possible every minute, 5 minutes, quarter hours, half hours, full hours - on-device watchface settings removed - display of a "NO GPS" warning, if astronomical data can't be calculated because of missing GPS position - fix: touch event for display of extended moon data is disabled, if astronimal data are not calculated - change to SDK 8.2.3 v3.5.37 - the new feautures of v3.5.36 were causing out of memory errors on some AMOLED devices. Because of that the features have been removed (back to v3.4.32). SDK 8.2.1 has been kept. v3.5.36 - watch shows "YELLOW ALERT", when the battery level drops below 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% and "RED ALERT" when the battery level drops below 10% in 1%-Steps (must be enabeld via setup menu in Connect IQ or Garmin Express). The "alert" appears for 30 seconds and will also be visible in alway-on-display. - added a second color set for watches with MIP display. - change to SDK 8.2.1 v3.4.32 - added support for Forerunner® 570 - 42mm, Forerunner® 570 - 47mm - added support for Forerunner® 970 - added support for vívoactive® 6 - AlwayOn display shows now acual time (presently 24h format only) - fix: display of dawn phases, when local end time is after local midnight - fix: selection of 12h vs. 24h display - change to SDK 8.1.1 v3.2.30 - added 2 color styles for AMOLED watches (matching the "real" LCARS): selectable via Garmin Express or Connect IQ - added support for Descent G2 - added support for vivoactive 5 (no display of: air pressure, floors climbed, floors descended) v3.1.27 - always on display: possibility to deactivate in the watchface setup - possibility of simulation of any GPS position in the watchface setup v3.0.26 - detailed view of the moon data (azimuth, altitude, rise, set, transit) and dawn phases (selectable via touch screen: press 2 seconds on the moon) - fix: correction of calculation of actual azimuth and altitude of moon with consideration to time zones - fix: correction of parallactic angle of the moon picture. v2.1.22 - new formats for distance (DST): meters, yards, feet, miles (user request) - fix: zenith angle and fraction of moon - fix: next sunrise time v2.0.20 - added astronimcal algorithms to calculate the rise and set times of the moon (last known GPS position is required) - change to SDK 7.4.3 - added support for a lot more devices v1.3.12 - complete remake of code - change to SDK 7.2.1 - remove of unsupported devices - old versions (v1.1, v1.2 metric, v1.2 imperial) removed from Garmin app store
