About

BikeMighty: Advanced Fueling & Physiology Engine **Stop guessing if you are eating enough or will make it to the end of the ride.** This isn’t just another basic tracker doing questionable math. BikeMighty Fueling is a real-time physiology engine and fuel burn tracker to help you know if you can meet your ride and pace…or not. BikeMighty builds a virtual model of your body's metabolism. It learns your physiological baselines and adapts on the fly to how hard you are riding, senses cardiac drift, heat stress, muscular fatigue and your fueling plan to give you pacing and energy insight. This app is loosely based on a Leaky Bucket system. Two buckets feed energy to your muscles. One of them is for fat and is virtually limitless but there’s only a tiny hole at the bottom to feed your muscles. The other bucket is for glycogen. It is much smaller bucket but it has a much bigger hole in the bottom to feed your muscles. If you know how big the bucket is, how quickly you are filling it (with food) and how quickly you are emptying it (by riding), you can estimate just how long it will take before the bucket is empty and you bonk. It knows if you are fresh and it's the beginning of a ride or you are four hours in on an epic adventure to gauge the true amount of fuel you are burning. Riding your FTP an hour into a ride takes less than riding your FTP four hours in. Enter a few details to get the engine going: Weight: Used to set the size of your tank. Training Status: Combined with weight to set your initial fuel reserves. Fuel Plan: Sets how quickly you are filling the bucket. FTP: Sets the curve for how quickly you burn on hard efforts. Lactate Threshold: Sets the tipping point between fats can carbs. Enter if you know it but will use other methods if you only know your HR values. You can also set a custom glycogen level for advanced users as well as set how full you tank is at the start in case you are fasted or just not at your best for the day. Now, just start riding your bike. The app will detect your power and heart rate baseline and start burning energy from the fat bucket and glycogen buckets. The main element on all the screens is the “status pill”. This pill changes color based on the status of your fuel tank. Depending on the size of the field on your Edge device, the pill will display the estimated time and distance you have projected left as well as the tank percentage. If you use the one-field graphical display, it shows you the current carb burn rate, the current trend over the past several minutes, power and HRM data etc. At the bottom, there’s a fuel tank gage, a counter for the deficit (you are burning more than you are eating) and the current carb to fat ratio as well as the status pill. Some of the totals are also displayed. ** Disable graphical 1-page option and you can see almost all of the internal metrics and counters. ** Here’s what the labels are: Burn: 3-sec rate. AddFuel: Estimate to fuel next 5 minutes. Deficit: Carbs burned vs from fuel plan. Strain: Live index based on VT1 and FTP thresholds. TotCarb: Total carbs burned. TotFat: Total fat burned. Intake: Grams of carbs from your fueling plan. EWMA: Exponential weighted moving average over 5 minutes for carbs used for many calculations internally. Ftg: Fatigue penalty applied based on work done. Drft: Cardiac Drift detected and penalty to apply. FuelMix: Current mix with weighted curves. BodyEff: Body Efficiency driven down by ftg/drft penalties. VT1: Aerobic Threshold. Will say [75%] if based on FTP or [user] if manual. LTHR: Lactate Threshold. [%max] if you just entered your max heart rate or [KARV] if entered your resting heart rate. HR/Pwr: Heart rate to power ratio. This will initially say [E] for estimated then [L] for learned. FuelPlan: The grams per hour of carbs currently configured. Try to get FTP, Aerobic Threshold and Training status reasonably close and calibrate your powermeter. Do your best on the rest.
